Now I know I said in a previous reply that it would have to be a P51, but I have been giving this some more thought. If one takes into account the basic title, then it would have to involve a life full of a lot, not really a huge amount of money. Now not counting the lottery, you would either have to be making it for yourself, of be working for someone who pays well, no very well, no exceedingly very well. Now this is all well and good, but it will involve a lot, maybe a huge amount of work. So this brings in the spare time factor. Would you have any after other commitments. Probably not. So I have come up with the best answer. I will change my mind if allowed and choose another aircraft.
Now taking into account the above, add in hussle and bustle of life, stress, lack of time, money etc, etc I will go for nice looking light weight or even an ultralight. I think being low and slow is a good way to unwind from the daily grind. It would have to be an enclosed cockpit and that cockpit is designed to look like a P51. It would however be modified with top sound system and a rumble seat. I am not looking to be flying along to Britney's greatest hits or chilling to Fleetwood Mac's Albatros, no,no, no. It would only play the sounds of a P51. From the moment I turned the key to the moment I turned her off, it would be like sitting in a P51. Also it would have external speakers so that as I bimbled over head I could frighten the locals with the Sound of Music Merlin. Consider it the aviation version of a kit car. The guy next door has a Ferrari Enzo, well it looks like an Enzo, sounds like an Enzo and from a distance could even pass an Enzo, but at the end on the day it is a Ford Escort with a body kit. And why?, because if we had the money to own one, we would be too busy earning more of it to enjoy our acquisition.

A different perspective to the question Smiley

Well I fell in love with the Goose ever since I started up FSX, but realistically, would love a C185 on amphibious floats!

Great choice! But, as someone with personal experience in that plane, it does cut down on the utility of the 185. It's slower, can't carry as much, and is much more complex mechanically. In fact, we are getting the floats off of ours as soon as we can find someone to buy them.

My (fantasy) picks:

A Beech 18 Amphi for the lakehouse.

A P-51, Allison powered, for jaunts to the grocery store.

AND, a B-17!!!  For everything else. Cheesy

......now if only I could come up with a non-defective lottery ticket......   Roll Eyes
