FS9 is dying on me...first I lost GPS. I can get the gauge to show but as soon as I click enter on a direct to site it just goes back to the blinker. Can't load a destination with any aircraft. Now, when I exit a flight, FS9 quits responding......I need to go to task manager and force a shutdown. The aircraft panel screens are also contorted. BOTT"OM LINE - is there a way to reinstall FS9 and keep my 28gig of scenes, AI, and flyers without having to reinstall all that data?
I have backed up the Addon Scenery, Aircraft, Gauges, Effects, and Sound files for that exact reason. Backing these up and re-inserting them into a fresh addon has worked for me now 20 times....I had to do about 20 complete re-installs because of some other issues with the sim.
However, if you have addons (scenery, planes, etc) that use items in other files than those listed you will need them as well...but remember, the reason your sim might be having problems is because you have so many addons. Sometimes they interact in odd ways (from my experience). For example, I now for some odd reason have an extra plane that is not in the aircraft folder or any aircraft.cfg that I can find...stranger still, it is used in AI flight plans that I never made!
Thankfully it is just a Cessna 172 repaint, so not a big deal.
