9 years and still going strong.  I still use FS9 more than FSX just because it is completely setup the way I want, and runs and looks great on my PC.

Me too. It makes you wonder how many other peices of "entertainment" type software are still holding peoples attention after 9 years? And.. after developeing such a great peice of software how did Microsoft manage to get it soooooo wrong with "Flight?"

Long live FS9

Good morning all... Smiley

Removed FS 2004 just like I did all the other flight simulator games between FS98 and FS2004.

I only have FSX on the computer now and very very happy with Microsofts work on that one.... Wink

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Already nine years... they literally flew... makes my middle age crisis even worse... a shame a good follow up won't happen, FSX being undermined by bad coding that makes its instability an issue felt even on the hardware that can finally (seven years down the lane) run it decently... Sad

There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

...funny thing is....

I never have found a good-enough reason to un-install my FS '98, FS 2000 (a bit of an odd one!), and FS 2002 (excellent!), from my Hard Drive...plenty of room on there, and they are fun to compare, every now and again... Kiss...!
My FSX is also on the Hard Drive, ready for action.....if, and when, necessary....
...but, for some very strange reason.... Wink.... doesn't see the light of day as often as my FS 2004.....For the life of me, I cant think why!....Grin....!

Paul.... Grin...!

Flight Unlimited II/Pro Pilot '99/etc > FS '98 >>>> FSX....a very busy Hard Drive!... Cool...!

...and, not forgetting M$ CFS 2... Cool...!

Fs2004 is what I am still using... and there is PLENTY of bang for the buck still left in that sim.  I haven't yet maxed out what it can do.

Happy Birthday FS2004!

I think, probably like Fozzer I have too much time invested in FS9 to ever delete it. I've customised my FS9 with my favourite airfields modified by myself and to my own taste. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the "bells and whistles" that come with FSX and I will be keeping them both.

Edit;
I should add, without the generous contributions of all the freeware designers and contributers to this excellant site, I might have given up ages ago. Sometimes I can go several days without a flight, but I try and check into SimV every day to see what's going on.

Cheers Pete Wink

.... Grin....

I have to chuckle now, when I think back to my time with FS 2002, (it was a VAST improvement over FS 2000).
I got firmly attached to it over a long period time....
....and then FS 2004 was released, and I purchased it immediately, but meanwhile, my FS 2002 had became such a good friend that it took my Sim V, FS 2004 Chums, a long time to drag me, kicking and screaming, into FS 2004, where I have remained ever since, even after purchasing FSX on its release!

My FS 2004 now, like my previous FS 2002, has become a trusty companion, with all my wealth of add-ons, every day, ready to explore the World around me for the price of a few Watts of electricity!
Maybe, one day, I will get equally excited about my copy of FSX.....
...but in the meantime, my FS 2004, with all its extra bits and bobs, does all I want it to do... Kiss...!

Paul.... Smiley...!

Well MS train simulator is older and very much in demand and still has tones of payware being sold and developed. some one offered me $250 for my original disks.. no thanks. I love my train sim to much.

you know when you read all the instructions and tutorial od the FS9-SDK definaly FS9 was the best I deeply miss those great times Of MSFS, instruction were made for the people learn ,Any one could make airplanes Not the same with FSX-SDK ,FS9 to me the most stable and maybe the best

the FS9 MDL are much more protected than FSX

FSX has better graphics ,its more advance ,but it was made rushing ,some cockpits were unfinished ,it has its issues even thought its two service pack released less than a year (telling us how was released without cautions and a lot of mistakes)

I also remember something I couldn't do anymore ,I remeber when the Simviation members gather in Multiplayer every sunday and by the lead of Paul (Fozzer) had out own adventures in FS9 Multiplayer ,I couldn't never join and have that kind of Fun in FSX ,I miss that Cry

Happy Birthday FS2004
It really deserves this

Don't forget, Multiplayer Chums, although FSX was programmed to use "GameSpy" via a complicated! log-in account  Cry  for access to Multiplayer, there is a simple alternative, for all FS 2002, FS 2004, and FSX users to use Multiplayer together, using the many on-line "FS Host" servers around the World!

FS 2002 and FS 2004 users already use the default FS Host Server, but FSX users can also join, using "FS Host Client"!
Full details here!...>>> http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/
...see "FS Host Client" for Multiplayer connecting details for FSX users...
...its easy-peasy!

Running "FS Host Spy" will give details of all the available Multiplayer Servers, and show their "IP Addresses" to connect to!

Remember: Simviation has its own protected Multiplayer Server...178.63.253.134....with full details here...>>> /yabb?board=Multi

Time for all FSX, FS 2004, and FS 2002 enthusiasts to take to the air and explore the World...Together!....(many of us already do!).

Paul...FS 2004 + FS Navigator... Cool...!

P.S. FSX users. Put a "FS Host Client" short-cut on your Desktop, (together with your Desktop FSX short-cut), for instant access to FSX Multiplayer!

That's funny!  FS9 and me were born on the same day. Smiley  Maybe thats why I can't seem to shake this addiction to this "Most Excellent" software program.
Thank you Microsoft and thank you FS9 programers and most importantly thank you SimViation and all you addon programers without whom, FS9 would'nt be quite as addicting!     CHEERS! Smiley
