Simviation Forum - Uninstall FSX Delux Error

In preparation for the FSX Gold installation I attempted to
uninstall FSX. There are three different programs listed on my
PC, they are;
Microsoft Flight Simulator X Service Pack 2,

Microsoft Games for Windows - Live Redistributable,

Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplace.

When I select any of these programs to uninstall, I get a popup window as follows;

ERROR opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable.

Do not want to install the Gold version until the other is
uninstalled. Appreciate your assistance.

Richard. If your FSX DeLuxe is running without problems I don't see the point of uninstalling it. You can install Acceleration from the Gold package if you wish.

Aha, thanks for that. I still would like to know why I am unable to Uninstall though.

Going to do as you suggest.

Heh, tried to install Acceleration, Error msg, uninstall SP2 first.
Merry go round.
Stuck again.

Hmmm. Not sure what's causing the uninstall error. Sorry.

Perhaps someone else can suggest something.

Just a note. I always use the cd if i need to uninstall, and then make a cleanup after.

Now have the Gold with Acceleration installed. Runs nicely, also looks much better than the Delux with SP2. Do not know what they did but it is very definitely a improvement.

Will be asking lots more questions as I proceed.
