hello to all:

I'm thinking of getting fsx gold edition since it is made for w7. what places can I trust to get this like website or something like that. I do not know if gold edition is around any longer. but any way what do you all think about the new microsoft flight  program is it any good or will it replace the gold edition I hope not.

The 'fligth' program isn't going to replace any sim,I'll list advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:
Free download for the island of hawaii
Slightly better graphics.
Easier to run then FSX.
That's all. Grin

Disadvantages:
You need to pay about 25-30 bucks for ANY scenery, wich is only mediocre quality.
You can't fly into other countries, you've got ot stay with one at a time.
No jetliners.
No 3d party software.
No AI traffic(cars and planes etc)
They WON'T make the entire world.
It has bad flight dynamics.
The aircraft look fake.
Stupid 'challenges'(flying trough hoops)

Should I name any more? Grin

Now,what would you pick: One island that's a bit more realistic with only 2 mediocre aircraft for free but you need to pay lots for the rest of the world, wich you can't fly to OR a relatively cheap sim with realistic flying, traffic, freeware and payware of amazing quality, technically unlimited aircraft that has the entire world for you to fly into.

Flight or FSX?I would prefer FSX. Grin

hello jetprop:

yeah I will stick to fsx . I guess I can get  the gold edition from web site. I would say that I can still use my planes from my old fsx I would think maybe save them to a dvd or something and trans them to the new gold edition on w7.

I have FSX Gold / Acceleration edition,, I like it better, many of the Aircraft Graphics display better, scenery in some most place is really good. Also, I use FS Scene and Traffic X which really enhanced most areas I fly too and easy on Frame rates. Also a lot , some, most of 2004 / FS9 Aircraft will work in FSX Gold,, tho you might have to tinker with prop textures on prop aircraft, and some aircraft sounds you may need to swap from a FSX Aircraft depending on how their tied to whatever 2004 aircraft. FSX has a lot of enhanced features and other things. Also EBay can be a good place to find FSX Gold sometimes,, or ya can try here as well -----} http://www.microcenter.com/

FSX is very good but even with a high-end machine you'll get some lag... But I usually get nothing under 10 FPS. Your graphics card is slightly better than mine, so you'll probably get some lag at huge airports like MIA of JFK. (I always fly around MIA; it's my home airport! Grin)
I haz windows 7 as well... Cool

He'll sometimes get into a fight if he meets another cat though... But it's rare because he's kicked out all other cats in the neighborhood. He thinks all the houses are his too...
I came up with the name "ilikerio" way back in 4th grade, and I've used it with most user accounts ever since.

Once I get pretty high I get over 20 FPS, which is perfect. At smaller airports I get good FPS too.  Wink

Dont look that much on fps. Look at what you can see. Set the sim a bit lower and then go up.
On the acceleration you'll get a nice f-18 landing on carriers (if you can)!
Your specs will run it just fine.

I agree.
I used to run on low scenery density but at high FPS,it was smooth but it looked bad,now I Run on realy high scenery settings and I run on about 10-20 FPS withouth ENB bloom and with ENB I run 9-15,it looks better now even tough I get bad FPS.

FSX gold verus Microsoft flight.
FSX gold.................good, worth getting
Microsoft flight............bad, not worth getting, unless you like flying with your thumbs and paying the earth for, well, the earth.
Both work very well with W7...32bit or 64bit.

According to the compatibility site fsx gold edition is the only version that is W7 64 bit ready.
For W7 32 bit the standard edition of fsx will work fine.
Ans you can run it in compatibility mode on W7 64 bit if you want to. Cool
