So every time I try to access the menus or online chat box mid-flight, the text is impossible to read as it is just grey blocks. I tried uploading a screenshot as an example, but it wouldn't let me post it.  Anyway, if anybody has an idea of what I'm talking about and how to fix it please let me know.

Your upload is to big, try resizing it. You have have to reinstall FSX, this happened to me before

Well it told me that I had to post a minimum of 5 times before I could post the picture?  And I already reinstalled FSX once before because of this reason, and it did nothing.

Try uninstalling the planes you've put on

Someone will know a cure for this.... Smiley...!

..(it has happened to me before, in FS 2004).

It is something to do with the; "Fonts"....
They are either missing, or the program (FSX) is looking at the wrong Windows set.

It is an easy cure, once someone tells you how to do it.... Roll Eyes...

...(I've long forgotten!)... Cry...!

Paul... Wink...!

...also...make sure the settings on your Graphics Card are correct!

Today I checked to see if there were any updates that I had missed and my VGA driver needed an update.  So I did that, but now the text looks like this:

...

I'm not sure if this is a step forward or a step back?

To BlackAce, I tried deleting my addons, but that didn't help either.  But you obviously have more ideas than I do so I appreciate the input!

And to Fozzer, that gives me a few ideas that I'll tinker around with, I'll post on here if any of them work or not.  Thanks!

I took a look at that link, and it sounded like my exact situation but apparently not because it didn't work.  I run Windows 7 instead of XP, but I figured it wouldn't make much of a difference.
