Salutations Screenshot aficionados!
Ive been sniffing round the flying stations web site wondering just how good there Buccaneer is...anybody got it yet? Anyhoo, had to use this UKMIL one for a flyabout. Its actualy pretty good.
So, i presente - 'Banana Jet'
Banana Jet flys!
Originally a naval aircraft, the RAF 'reluctantly' ended up with it after the TSR-2 cancellation and the F-111 debacle..
The Tornado eventually replaced the Buccaneer, but in many ways the Buc was superior...
Some of the advanced features included the area-ruling, extra-strong wings and spars and boundary layer control.
The unrivalled low-level stability of the Buccaneer meant that RAF Buccaneer squadrons consistently outperformed other low-level strike aircraft and did particularly well at the annual 'Red Flag' exercises in Nevada.
Me hope you likey
The UKMIL Buccaneer is freeware but some other things in the shots are not - thanks for looking, C+C welcomed

Great shots, Todayshorse
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"

I always thought a Banana Jet was a Hughes AirWest DC-9.
Gorgeous shots. Particularly like the composition of the last one. The Buck was a legendary aircraft for the FAA/RAF. Awesome airplane!

From thunder and lightnings (
http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/buccaneer/index.php
)
"July 1953 saw the issuing of Naval Staff Requirement NA.39 (later M.148T), calling for a carrier-borne strike aircraft with a large range capable of carrying a nuclear weapon under enemy radar cover and striking enemy shipping or ports. Blackburn Aircraft won the tender to produce their design (known within Blackburns as the B.103). The NA.39 was an advanced aircraft for its time and the secrecy surrounding the new construction and design techniques being used meant that the project remained top-secret until February 1957. Until then, the great secrecy surrounding the project led to the aircraft being called merely 'BNA' or 'BANA' (for Blackburn Naval Aircraft or Blackburn Advanced Naval Aircraft) in many documents. Inevitably this led to the design being called the 'Banana Jet' by some workers, a name that would persist throughout the jet's service career"
Id known it previously but assumed it was because of its, lets say, unusual shape....

Excellent set of shots here ! The photorealistic background sure helps a lot, but this is also a very nice plane model. I had the UKMIL plane for a while in my hangar. I loved the exterior model as well as the flight model, but I didn't really like the VC for some reason :/
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?
