Anyone advise the best way to store a back up of all my add-on scenery and aircraft files , so that I can reload them
without too much hassle if I ever have to reload FSX  ?
I am thinking a separate stand alone disc drive. ?

I can only think of Copy/Paste. It would take a while but you could back up your complete FSX directory if you wished.

My 3rd party aircraft & scenery are installed to locations outside the FSX root directory. They will be perfectly safe if I ever have to reinstall FSX. I might have to reactivate the scenery.

I have a complete copy of FSX tucked away on a 1TB EHD.  Subfoldered to it I have a pair for add-on scenery and add-on aircraft for ease of updating when I get new addies.  It's just a simple copy-n-paste then when there's any acquisitions.

Thankfully it's been a while since FSX had to be repaired/reloaded being that I've learned a lot of stuff from being a member here.  Having frequent educational experiences here has led to a drastic reduction of me doing something stupid with FSX components that most times rendered it FUBAR'd.

The last time I was goofy and really messed things up, repair/reinstall time and effort was drastically reduced with using the EHD files and folders.

I have everything now on an external 1.5TB drive. Works for me! Having just done a full re-install of the OS and FSX, its a whole lot easier to have everything there ready to go Smiley
