So,even though I have UTX USA/Canada and Europe And GEX eNhanced.....I got em when they first came out. I am happy for the most part with my sim......Then I went to this ORBX thing I've been hearing alot about here....Dammit! I should of never looked! Now i'm thinking I want this,At least the new USA/Canada for now as it looks far superior to my older payware terrain packages. Should I go for it? Also,if I decide to get it,should I do a complete wipe/reload of my FSX? I'm thinking I might do it anyway with all the AC i've been loading then deleting lately. I'm also thinking about this REX thing i've heard of here too. I'm currently using way outdated FEX. My mindset is new rig, mind as well get new fresh stuff. My dad is also giving me his brand new Saitek yoke and pedals as he likes his older one for his FS9. Hmmmmm, decisions decisions.
Also, rather than starting another thread for another payware question. I got all my cd keys for all my Captian Sim stuff form the site they sent me via email. For some reason the only thing I had stored on my back up HD for them was my C-130. But the rest of my AC (i pretty much have em all except the new 737 (no vc yet) and the buff). Do I just go to the site and redownload the AC then punch my code in to reload it?
Well.i'm off to check out REX..I'll be back shortly for your opinions and or advice in this matter.
Mike
EDIT...Just saw REX..I figure I need 80 bucks to make North America/Canada my flight environment and myself feel pretty

The Orbx add-ons are well worth the money and are some of the best you can get for FSX. They've greatly enhanced my simming and greatly reduced my wallet cluster.
As for Captain Sim, yes, just log-on and put in your info, then re-download. I've had to do it a couple of times and I've never run into problems doing it.

ORBX is fairly cool, really, the way Flight Simulator should of been actually from the beginning !!! Also, from my past experiences I now have ALL my Aircraft backed up on CD Disks, along with all effects files, gauges, and all installers with the key codes,,, I think last my "Aircrafter utility", spit at me, it said I had like 2800 aircraft to fly,,, and I just added 4 more really nice just released DC-3 / AC-47's too from another site . for 2004/FSX and they look great !! I've only got 780 Video's to make yet of all my aircraft !

I've almost decided to go for the 2 new items. And, I think I would feel better if I did a complete wipe and reload of my FSX. The only payware plane I have is my C-130 loaded. Everything else is terrain packages and the old flight environment. I suppose when I reload UT II I'll spend the 7 bucks and update my flight schedules as well so that everything is current. Until I can afford ORBX for various places outside the US/Canada I suppose I could reinstall my UTX Europe terrain. I would guess it won't conflict with what I have on the other side of the planet. Oh. I was reading this new ORBX USA/Canada stuff and didn't see if it covered Alaska and Hawaii....Does it?

READ - Also,, to go along with ORBX, you should grab yourself some FREEWARE - Lands End Scenery packages too, they are really cool and most have custom hangers,,, for smaller aircraft, cessnas, beech, pipers, cubs. Go Google "Lands End Sea planes", should find them,,, their great and have NEON Signage too and not all cheesy lookin either !!
(FREEWARE too )

I think I saw that but didn't look into it on the same main site as the ORBX stuff?

Mike, first of all, I'll just confirm everything that has been said before about the OrbX scenery packages. I'm a proud owner of the PNW scenery, which covers all the region around Seattle, and I love it.
You do NOT need to reinstall your FSX to install the FTX sceneries, not at all.FTX sceneries have no impact on other sceneries and other sceneries have no impact on FTX sceneries. The only thing you must be carefull about is the utility FTX Central (which is installed with any OrbX product). When you want to fly over a FTX area, then you have to go into the FTX Central tool prior to launching FSX, and ensure that the area is "activated" (you can switch between the areas and "default FSX"). This is because the FTX products are going to change some things relative to the autogen and landclass systems, so if you intend to fly out of the FTX area, then you should switch back to "default FSX" in the FTX Central tool first. That's all.
Also, on the OrbX website, I would strongly recommend you to download and install the freeware PNW demo that covers all of the Olympic peninsula southwest of Seattle, and includes the Bowermann airfield. It will give you a nice preview of what the region is going to look like in the full package.
Carefull with some airports: some of the like Concrete, Darrigton, Orcas Island etc... are also separate payware products, that can be installed on top of PNW. These paywares look simply fantastic ! However, in the PNW package, they are already there, in a much more basic form of course (much less detailled than the payware versions).... basic, but not basic like a default FSX airfield. These "basic" version that are included in the PNW pack are already using quite a nice surrounding landclass, as well as a wide bunch of scenery objects like airplanes, grass, buildings hangars etc... Which means the basic versions of these airports are already looking quite good.
On the GTX forums, somewhere you can find a Google Earth ".KMZ" file which shows the precise coverage of all the various FTX products.
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?

I think Lands End Sea Planes are on here scenery wize, it is really good FREEWARE Scenery and I gotta like those neon lights at night and all those cool custom hangers you can park inside of too !! Just don't forget to write down the airport / sea harbor code so you can remember where their all at, the 4 different packages will give you almost like 30 or 40 different types of Lands End scenerys or water ports for Sea Planes, all over the place mainly around North America / Canada and south america,, worth the downloads. ORBX does have some FREEWARE scenery and I believe that Grass Enhancer which really makes a huge difference too !
