Wind was roaring down the mountains, and pretty soon I'd better be roaring UP the mountains... Tsuniah Lake ain't wide and (with Accu-Feel turned up and 'cabin integrity' turned way, WAY down) this Goose is ready to shake to peices in the choppy waves! YIKES!  Cheesy

More wild rides... just finally learned to land this puppy, and I've proudly touched the replica in the New England Air Museum...  Cool

The Wildest ride of them all... Howard was a mad genius.

Thanks for looking, Cheers! Smiley

That very first shot is simply magic !
However, the blurriness of the distant moutains tells me that the screenshot is edited. So it should not be in this section Wink

If this bluriness wasn't achieved by screenshot edition, then I'm extremely interested to know how you do that, if it's a post-processing module like ENB or something like that ?

OH! You caught me! Embarrassed Yes there is a little Depth of field effect added in. Actually, the program I use for resizing and compression offers it, and I couldn't resist, but I shall cease and desist, from now on, for you sir!  Wink as for adding this effect in game, I would give a kidney to have that. ENBseries, (which I do use, thanks to you) offers something like it, however its rather unpleasant looking, resource-crippling, and doesnt like to cooperate with my TrackIR!

Don't get me wrong, I really LOVED them (thus the "magic").
I was just commenting on the screenshot category for the forum, that's all Wink
And honnestly, I was hoping that you had found a way to make the depth of view feature in ENB work correctly in FSX :/

Hey, Mike, head on over to Orbx's http://www.FullTerrain.com if you haven't already, an excellent site. Personally, I have a hard time flying over anything BUT Orbx scenery now, but I'm sure you've heard that before from others.

So far they released all of Australia (they're an aussie company) which is nice and well supported with freeware too, check out http://www.AussieX.org (it ain't dirty, the link just LOOKS incriminating I promise!) If you want, Orbx has a demo of Tasmania, THATS what hooked ME!

The next region is the American/Canadian Pacific North-West, the only package I own. Pricey but worth every penny, LOADED with landmarks and over 400 upgraded airports (over default). I still havent seen all of it. I must admit it does bother me sometimes that its not a complete Island or continent, as I've flown off the edge into dreary default terrain, and thought: aaawwwwwwwww maaaaaannnnnnnn.... Also a demo of that available, the Olympic Pennisula (thats right, screenshot number two could be outside your cockpit tonight for FREE). This area is slowly expanding with the release of 'Pacific Fjords' to the north and 'Rocky Mountains' and 'Central Rockies' to the east.

The latest release, and my next most probable payware purchase, is the South Island of New Zealand, soon to be followed by the North Island. Now THIS i like, a contained island scenery you can't wander off of in a small aircraft. All I need to do now is discuss it with the "financial comittee"...... *cough-wife-cough*. No demo yet for NZ...

I REALLY hope they head for South Africa next! (my mother-country)  Cool

As for REX, its awesome sauce over a plate of bodacious. Don't like the color of the sky or shape of the blurry low-res clouds today?
'POW!'
Real Enviroment Xtreme... sick of that boring pixely water texture?
'WHAM!!'
Real Enviroment Xtreme... sad about the woefully inadequate and unrealistic default real-weather system?
'KA-BLOOIE!!!'
Real Enviroment Xtreme... what more can I enumerate? THOUSANDS of possible combinations and much more than just Cloud Sky and Water textures (Only quibble: the REX User Interface is a little sluggish at times... wish they made it a little more practical, and a little less flashy. But you get used to it.)

Believe me, REX, ORBX and TRACK-IR are in my sig for a reason... they transformed the way I enjoyed FS. Now I sometimes look out the canopy and think I'm looking out into the REAL WORLD. Not all Payware is worth it's brass, but boy howdy, those two products are!  Wink

Especially Christchurch, I want to see if they modelled as it was before or after the earthquake. (Or should I say earthquakes)

That's one good think about flying NZ virtually, no earthquakes.

I think I under read what I was getting into. Basically the new package (USA/Canada) from ORBX is mostly Washington state and a a piece of Canada. Not USA/Canada as a whole? If thats the case, even as beautiful as it is, I should probly wait for a "continental" package and stick with my UTX stuff for now. The REX stuff however is global. And it sounds as though the real weather stuff (which is the only way I fly) may be worth the upgrade from my out dated FEX. I would also think I wouldn't have to do a clean revamp of my FSX but just uninstall FEX prior to my new flight environment. Some tuff choices ahead....

You're correct mike, I'm afraid, they've only just cracked the continent, so to speak. It will be a grand accomplishment if they finish North America, and even grander if they complete the world!

I've been thinking... if FSX had been replaced sooner, little to none of this software would have been able to be developed and expanded for this one platform... (ironic as it sounds).

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun split clouds.....and done a hundred things you have never dreamed of.....wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hovering there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long, delerious, burning blue I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace where never Lark, nor even Eagle flew. While with silent lifting of mind I've trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, put out my hand and touched the face of god"
