Alright, guys.  I just made my first FSX film and I'm very dissapointed at the FPS.

Windows 7 Ultimate
Fraps
Windows Movie Maker 2.6 with patch to render at 1080p.

So here's the problem.  I capture my vids at 30fps using Fraps.  When I watch the raw uncompressed footage, the fps hit from fraps is minimal.  Everything is still very smooth.
The problem is when I finish editing on WMM.  My fps drops like a brick after it renders my movie at 24fps/1080p.
What am I doing wrong?  I thought it was just fraps that affect the fps?  But in my case it could be WMM.
The problem I think comes from Windows Movie Maker.
Anybody else experience this?

Here's the vid so you can get a good idea of what I'm talking about...   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ7x8yz4E2U ;  It was MUCH smoother before I let WMM render the vid.

My friend told me to try Camtasia but I'm very comfortable with fraps/wmm right now.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't care for Windows Movie Maker either. What I use is AVS Video Editor 6.1.  Real easy to use and has a lot more features then WMM. Here is the link.  http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Editor.aspx

I really haven't try FS recorder yet ,but Fraps(I have it) eats too much resources of the pc ,and I heard many good comments about it
please see one of those

edit : ok apparently it record files for the FSX, I made once a question about fraps and there seems to be a diferent option that does not eat the memory graphics

Bob,
Thanks for the link.  I will definitely keep it in mind.  I really hate how it's very difficult to cut the footage on the exact second I want with wmm.  Thanks again.

Alrot,
I have fs recorder but I haven't used it yet because I've only been capturing scenery as I fly.  I will be using it on my next vid for a wing view take off.  I plan to do the replay with fs recorder and capture with fraps.
I did some more reading and many people recommend using "half size" on fraps to improve performance.  I may give that a go if the quality isn't affected too badly.

After trying out different ways to record last night, I finally found where my problem is.  I was recording with fraps at 30fps and wmm renders at 24fps.  I tried recording on fraps at 24fps and the result is a lot better now.
I also found out it really depends on the location and aircraft being used while recording.
Running fraps and PMDG in Fly Tampa's Kai Tak ended up with one choppy video lol.

I look forward to making better quality fsx vids.

Thanks again for the help, guys.

I had to give up totally using the New style format of "WMM" ( Windows Movie Maker), that came out with windows 7 - I found it impossible to use and apparently so did a whole lot of others too, after I went to YOU TUBE and did a search on WMM and seen all the many complaints from everybody about it - somebody at microsoft definetly had their head up their ass when they developed that P.O.S. program ! Gimme me back the old style WMM anyday, least it worked and was easy to use.                                                               I now use Serif 5 Pro movie maker and sometimes Nero Vision movie maker to edit my video's its very easy to use once you learn it and get the hang of what it can do.                                                                         Serif 5 movie maker ----} http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrhxRrlzh9I
