Alright, first off, I feel like this might be a taboo topic. I JUST re-installed FSX and had re-installed my old aircraft, gauges, sound, and effects folders from my previous install when I had Acceleration installed. I love the aircraft that come with Acceleration, could not care less about the missions, but hate the fact that my sim performance sucks with it installed. So I thought, why not treat the aircraft as addons from anyother source? Well the planes load just fine complete with gauges and sounds...except, the F/A-18 afterburners are not appearing. Any one else try this?

the F/A-18 is not supported without acceleration, even with the gauges effects ect.  Acceleration is the platform that those aircraft run on.

Okay, hey it was worth a shot eh? Acceleration just destroys my performance so much I really do not want to re-install it, BUT I love the Hornet and racing Mustang in it.

I tried it, does not work. The sound is screwed up and the engine performs very weird (put in a blunt and simple way). The EH101 cannot be started either. So they all need Acceleration for one reason or another.

Acceleration doesn't destroy the performance, it's all the contrary in fact.
In terms of performance, there is no difference between FSX-Acceleration and FSX-SP2.

If you do not reinstall Acceleration, you will not get the Acceleration features for flight models, aircraft carrier operationsn helicopter hoists and piston engine damage. You will also miss some of the gauges and effects.

Installing Acceleration or SP2 requires to re-tweak the FSX.cfg accordingly. If the installation of Acceleration really destroys your performance, then your computer has a serious problem  Undecided
