More pics, including the 'leaked' picture and two news articles. One about missions and the other a job description for a community and website manager. One of the responsibilities will be helping to plan a beta.  Smiley

Helping to plan a beta? More insurance that Flight won't be released this year, since they are just now hiring someone to 'plan' a beta. (and set up a website)
I went through the 10 provided screen shots and although they are nice, they still don't seem to far surpass anything that can't be done with FSX or even FS9. The first shot of 10 is the Missourri which was 'leaked' last June.

Where are you getting the June date.
I have not seen that mentioned anywhere.
Just curious.

That may be a good thing.
If the Hawaii scenery was done last June, then maybe the rest of the world is almost done..

(speculation of course, nothing more).

I saw it a few months ago on another forum. Later, when I get more time I'll try to find it again.

Edit:(a bit later)
Ok, here is a screenshot with the date on it.

Exactly. They don't surpass what CAN BE DONE with FSX. Sure FSX can be made to look sort of like Flight, but after you spend a load of $$$ on add-ons. Flight has the look of loads of add-ons out of the box, plus the rewritten engine and new shading technology.

Oh no, here I go sounding like a salesman again.  Grin

That doesn't sound so good. At least, FSX preview screenshots were showing things that COULD NOT BE DONE in FS9, even with all the paywares in the world. Here in Flight, the only visible thing that cannot be done in FSX is the new shadow system and, apparently, the new cloud-blending system... quite dissapointing.

No.
It has ONLY a good-looking Hawaii Island, just like FSX had a good looking St-Marteen Island. That's all we can say for now.

That's a point, yes. Not so visible in the screenshots, unfortunately. :/

I'm not a member there but I do read through some of the many topics.
My earlier post HERE means if I already have FSX the way I want it, and all I paid for was GEX, Those screens are only mildly exciting. I have a feeling from all the the discussion from here and there, Flight may not be as cheap as FSX/FS9. Time will tell.  Cool

Maybe, but would a $70 game be more appealing to a wider audience? I wouldn't think so.  Wink Then again, it's cheaper than taking flying lessons.  Grin

Well...

..all I can say is...

...I purchased FS' 98, FS 2000, FS 2002, FS2004 and FSX as soon as they were released in England, and I have no doubt I will do exactly the same with "Flight" as soon as its released... Wink...!

They only cost a few Pounds, and I can readily afford them,  so I have nothing to lose by trying them out and keeping them.... Smiley...!

..and the excitement of trying each one out is a joy not to be missed!... Grin... Grin....!

... Grin... Grin...!

I'm a terror for buying things... Kiss...

....but only after careful consideration... Wink....!

Over the intervening years since FS '98 I have only purchased a few "things" specially for the Flight Sims..

Obviously the Flight Sims themselves, and suitable Joysticks, followed by carefully selected Software, mainly to enrich the enjoyment of the Scenery each time.
Apart from the original FS Navigator and LAGO Flight Sim Scenery Enhancer, my only other purchased products over the years have been GE Pro for FS 2004, REX for FS 2004, FS Panel Studio, FS Global, and EZ Scenery, just to brighten up my scenery day... Wink

All my aircraft (nothing wrong with default!), and add-on scenery have always been Freeware (many thanks scenery designers!).

Its always fun trying out each new Flight Sim version, and finding out whether my existing hardware can cope with it...
....(with the latest version, mostly NOT, nowadays!)... Grin... Grin...!
I must admit, I'm still firmly welded to my trusty FS 2004 with my various scenery enhancements, etc, for various reasons, but the Sims that followed it are always fun to try out, just to see what they are like!
..and Mr Loadsamoney can add them to his ever-growing collection!... Grin...!

Paul... Smiley...!

Perhaps Hawaii screens are being used simply for marketing reasons since most of the target market is already familure with Hawaii/Pearl Harbor area meaning they have at least seen many pics of it.
Why show screens of of areas most have no idea what it's supppose to look like?

Besides, the real world  scenery of Oahu is pretty dramatic.

Who.

FSX was in ST Marteen. FS9 Was in Seattle. FS2002 and predecessors around Chicago (before the American mafia closed Meigs)...

Who is SO familiar with Hawaii in FS? Beside Hawaiian people, mind? Huh

I did not say the Flight marketers know what they are doinng.

BTW, I happen to live about 50 miles from NYC but, I'm also well aware of the complexity of it and perhaps othe major areas are no ready yet?

Hawaii is much easier to "get right" than most other well known  major areas.

Flight Simulator always has areas more detailed than others. In FSX it was Las Vegas, Rio, St. Maarten and Oshkosh. And more with Acceleration. In Flight, one of the locations is probably Hawaii. It makes sense they would advertise using this area. Not saying it's right or wrong that they advertise using this area even though 99.99% of the world doesn't look as good... the rest of the world might not even be finished. Why choose Hawaii? 8 million people visit each year.

I look at these screenshots for engine improvements. Not things I could just add by downloading mods from simv like better landclass, mesh and so forth. There are soft shadows, slightly better clouds, slightly better autogen, internal cockpit soft shadows. Nothing huge. I'm hoping that better weather and flight dynamics will be revealed as time goes on. But I have my doubts.

Rome and Paris have MORE yearly visits, and so do London, Jerusalem and Mecca too, AFAIK. That's not an explanation nor a likely excuse.

Flight Simulator has always shown a predilection in having the USA territory more completed end detailed than the rest of the world. That's not, though, the only reason why choose one of the States. Think about it. FSX on St Marteen... a small island on which the severely impaired engine of this sim version managed to thread water (only to sink catastrophically in any other part of the world) on the hardware of the time... and before that, be it only because at the time Internet was not as mainstream or maybe fast as today... FS2004 did not have a Demo, that I remember (though I could be wrong... at the time internet hereabout was still mainly a misspelled Italian soccer team), so didn't FS2002 nor other FS before...

So, why choose a SMALL ISLAND for a demo?

AGAIN!!!

Call me Mr Suspicious, if you want, but since they have gone through this very same process once already and managed to obtain less than adequate end results... better be cautious next time. Tongue

Oh for pity's sake! Where else on the planet is there such a diverse variety of scenery possible in such a compact area, save for deserts of course, but then beige sand is just beige sand, and boring to boot...

They picked Hawai'i simply because of the incredible variety of distinct features to showcase.  Grin

Hey everyone.
Did you hear about the new pictures and news articles for Flight? Or are we continuing the argument about who likes Flight and who doesn't, before there's even anything worth reviewing yet?

The pics look nice. I will probably enjoy flight if it looks that good out of the box. I can only imagine that the basic generic scenery will look the same across the globe. Basics about how detailed certain airports are, or certain cities...well obviously they can't model the whole world for $70 a copy can they? I look forward to the release, whenever it may come. If it sucks, well so be it. I was dissapointed with other games I bought in the past too, but it's bound to happen isn't it.

And I hope the newly hired web and community manager has alot of patience. I can forsee that there will be some agressive strategic attacks in their forums as soon as an official forum for Flight becomes available  Wink
