Hey everyone, I just downloaded the aicarriers2.zip, installed it, and everything installed properly (installed in its own folder in Program Files (x86)).

I was prompted on the FSX splash screen to run the program, which I did. When I started free flight, I checked my Addons tab in the taskbar like the readme says, and all that was there were FSUIPC and the Addon Manager, neither having anything on the aicarriers2 software.

I fear I may be missing something, and the support e-mail address in the readme is not a working e-mail. I'd really like to use this software, so any help would be much appreciated!

Reference- I have FSX Gold Edition, and Windows 7

it is known that 64 bit systems give problems sometimes, programs aren't made for it, the programs will be in the future so, a possible solution is installing windows 7 32 bit

That sucks, but I'm not surprised. Do you or anyone else know any software I could use to place carriers that will work with my system?

I have FSX Gold and Win 7 and it works fine for me. I suspect it might be that you have FSX installed in Programs (x86). It is better to install FSX and any other addons somewhere other than program files, even on a second drive if you have one. Other than that, I have no ideas. Sorry.

Ok, all I want to do is to move a default carrier somewhere, so does anyone know of any other software to help do this or a forum or website that describes how to do it?

I have FSX Acceleration and AICarriers, running perfectly on Win7 64.
If AICarrier does not work properly on your system, it might be because your system doesn't have a suitable version of Java runtimes.
I have read several times that the latest version can cause problems.

What happens if you launch FSX, stay on the menu, then manually launch the AICarrier executable file ? Does anything appear ?

DUDE YOUR THE MAN. I had to click the exe file, it then said connected to FSX, and all is gravy. Thanks brother.

Ok then, I think I know what is happening here.
AICarrier works ok, as you could see with that little window.
You were not getting the AICarrier item in the addon menu in FSX certainely because FSX failed to find the correct location of the executable file. So in the end, your FSX is not able to automatically launch AICarrier.exe, and you have to launch it manually.

But hopefully this problem can be resolved. What you should do is going into the folder that contains the FSX.cfg file. In that same folder, you should find a file nammed EXE.xml. This xml file contains a list of modules that should be launched automatically when FSX starts. Could you copy paste its content here ? I suspect that the lines that are supposed to launch AICarriers are using an incorrect filepath.

Hi dmbusmc & Daube,

I tried networking my fsx at the weekend due to a new laptop (pressie from wife) and found I couldnt see the carrier on the laptop,  I had'nt installed aicarriers and laptop is win 7 64 bit based.

@Daube: the path in the EXE.xml file is correct on mine to the .exe file in programs(X86) and the carrier addon works fine.
  <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\aicarriers.exe</Path>

@dmbusmc: If you get a java runtime environment error during aicarrier install, install the windows version of jre, I tried the windows 64 bit version and it didnt work, I have to assume that aicarriers is looking for the 32 bit version and I've installed version 6. Version 1.5 is mentioned during the install, it also mentions layer later versions are ok.

regards
Steve

I need help also. I installed it just like the instructions said. I made sure the path was correct, made sure I have java jre 6.8. I start ai carriers and it says it's connected to MS Flight Simulator X. But I still can't find the menu in either titlebar.

In windows t ese.xml is here

C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

entry should look like tjis

<Launch.Addon>
           <Disabled>False</Disabled>
           <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
           <Name>AICarriers</Name>
           <Path>D:\Ai carriers\AICarriers\aicarriers.exe</Path>
           <CommandLine>-nogui</CommandLine>
</Launch.Addon>

of course make sure the path is correct to the file, i have it on a different drive to solve the admin issue, and it works fine.

My path is okay. I get the message that AIcarriers is connected to flight sim, but there is no menu in the titlebar for missions or load in free flight.

I had the exact same problem this week, nothing would make it run in game except for a manual launch.

Here's what I did to fix it:

Install FS Recorder.

I have NO idea why that fixed it for me but it did. Its a cool program to have anyway so its a win-win  Wink

Hi, make sure you have downloaded the correct version of jre as there are two windows versions, one for 32 and 1 for 64 bit.

Look in your program files and programs files(86) for a java folder, if you have downloaded the one in program files and not the other, aicarriers will not work.

This is my exe.xml

- <SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
  <Descr>Launch</Descr>
  <Filename>EXE.XML</Filename>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
- <Launch.Addon>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
  <Name>AICarriers</Name>
  <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\AICarriers\aicarriers.exe</Path>
  <CommandLine>-nogui</CommandLine>
  </Launch.Addon>
  </SimBase.Document>
This is the path for my java

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6

regards
steve
