Hey guys. I'm new here and I would like to max out on all the graphics in fsx. I could set all of the settings to ultra high but the only problem would be that the game would run sluggishly. Here is my computer information:

Dell Dimension E521

OS: Win XP sp3

AMD anthon(tm) 64 X2 Dual

Core processor 3800+

2.00 GHz, 3.43 GB or RAM

Physical address extension

Please let me know if I have left out any information. Do i need a new video card, memory sticks, or a new processor?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks!!

James

If you do not already have a graphics card, get one, and don't scrimp.  It's also my opinion that there is no such thing as "overkill" when it comes to the graphics cards.

You won't be able to max out the graphics in FSX unless you find a CPU that has at least 4 cores and runs at least a 5 or 6 GHz. Unfortunately that doesn't exist yet Smiley

Thanks for your replies. I would now like to increase air traffic density. I've already got my air traffic density to around 50 or  60%. if I increase the air traffic density to 100%, will this slow my system down? I would love to have the air traffic density to 100%. thanks again for your replies.

If you run the default traffic with the ficticious airlines that comes with FSX, then yes, increasing the traffic density will definitely have an impact on your performance.

If you are not using the graphic option "DirectX10 Preview" in FSX, then you can take a look at the "World of AI" official webpage. World of AI provides packs of real-world airlines traffic that you can download separately, then install them using their own automatic installer program. If you download a reasonnable number of airlines that you know about, then you will be able to increase the airline traffic up to 100% without having too much impact on the performance.

Searching around for "World of AI" will provide you with more explanations and details.
