Hey everyone, love simviation and have been coming here for years and just decided to join. I am posting today because i have recently had an occasion on my windows XP computer where i needed to repair fsx, i put in the disk and it made me re-install. however, when it came to the end of installation, it gave me an error 1722. i found this is a very popular error. i have had flight simulator x original for years with out any problems untill now. i have been fighting error 1722 for two whole months now. The error only allows me to fly for 30 minutes, and no multiplayer. Oh, and very poor graphics. I have tried many online remedy's and this is my final effort before i have to leave fsx forever. I have tried the microsoft correction but it makes no scence to me, whatsoever, the instructions are very unclear at thier website. Please help
thanks in advance.

I have so far gotten no responses. Please, if you have a solution, please help. Image if you could not fly, or well for only 30 minutes. which isnt as much as it may sound. I feel like i just paid for a demo which i could have gotten for free.

Although I've never had this particular difficulty, I have just accomplished yet another FSX/Accel/SP2 uninstall/repair/reinstall due to me not being nearly as knowledgeable about fiddling with add-ons as I thought I was.

Texture and effects files/folders sure are touchy things.  They don't like undereducated types like me sometimes. Shocked

If I had a dollar for every fatal error due to an fsx.cfg difficulty, or somethin' similar, I'd have enough for a new truck down payment! Cheesy

Some I could fix cause I'd had an entire (original) FSX/Accel/SP2 backup on a 1TB external harddrive, some I had to fix by uninstalling/deleting every single FSX related file and reinstalling from scratch.

That's what I'm suggesting for you to do.  Seek out EVERY single FSX related anything in your system and delete it!  Wipe it off the face of your 'puter!  Look in every nook and cranny!!!  Delete (after making copies on a flash/thumb/external drive) every single FSX related add-on you've ever downloaded also.  Don't worry about any payware stuff, most vendors have excellent customer service that will assist with reinstalls/recoveries.....I'm on a first-name basis with a nice lady at Abacus! Wink

I was surprised a few months back to discover that my repair techniques were getting thwarted by a hidden add-on .dll file!  Took me about two weeks to discover what was effin with me.

Then do a reinstall like you never had it to begin with.  Complete with reregistering!  Some say they have had problems with doing a reregister with MS, but I have actually done it, on the same PC and IP address, nine times with zero difficulty.

It would seem to me that something somewhere is derailing your repair effort(s), so it would seem that you need to do what has worked for me in the past........actually very recent past........please excuse me while I go and reinstall FSWC.

It's the last thing I have to do to get my latest FSX malady cured.

Hope this helps!  Sounds drastic I know, but it seems like you're in the same rut I've climbed out of more than a few times.

Best o' luck to ya!!!!

You left somethin' somewhere methinks. Undecided

You hafta look everywhere for any trace(s) of FSX related anythings.........my thorn-in-the-side on one occasion was a texture folder that somehow got seperated from its "parent" and hid out in a document file.

Yes, im not really understanding the instructions. Also, when i have to open the command prompt, it will close immediatley. and also, the other guy (cant recall your name right now, sorry) told me to delet everything and try again. well i did that, now i have nothing.. not even the demo and it wont even try to install... says i am putting in the wrong disk and asks me to enter disk one, even though i will have disk one in. Anyways, it a BIG disaster. i totally gave up after that, i have been fighting 1722 for months, and now its messed everything up too. my computer will now randomly freeze and do other random things.

I wonder if there is a registry error and/or virus involved in this somehow....  Huh
