Big brother is out there and is a problem, but he is nothing compared to the internet, advertising community, and companies wanting to separate you from your money.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

There's a button on all browsers to prevent them from storing cookies, or selecting which sites are allowed to save cookies.
Tracking cookies aid things such as Google AdSense which will give you adverts relating to the websites you commonly visit or for products it has determined your sort of character would like. It's like customer surveys, only most people forget to say 'no thank you'.

I clean up my cookies every so often, but what a pain in neck it would be to not accept cookies and sign in to every website you need a password for, every time. I have a rollodex for all my passwords and user names.

Fortunately, Firefox has some very good cookie management extensions.
I can let every site in the world store all the cookies they want and remove only the ones I don't want (including flash cookies) with a single mouse click.
A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

I run CCleaner daily. It gets rid of the cookies and cache. But you can choose the ones you want to keep, like SimV.
