I don't know if this is the right place to post this, so please move this if it's not.

My computer has been crashing/freezing/locking up or whatever you choose to call it.
It has been doing it all the time and it is really annoying, please help.

I have a Dell Studio 540 with Vista Home Premium.
Does anyone know if Vista could be causing this??

Thanks!!

Is this a new problem?
Have you tried OCing it?
Have you had it apart recently?
Did you just instal any new software?
Is this a new computer to you?

Have you run any programs like CCleaner to try to fix this problem?

This is very vague. There are infinite possibilities to why your computer might not be performing as you want it to. There is no universal fix to these things.

By all the time do you mean when you run a certain program?

I have not installed any new software lately.
I have not taken it apart for about a month.
It is not really a new problem, but it's happening much more often now, and not when I run any specific program.
The computer is not new, had it about 2 years.
I will run CCleaner as soon as I can and see if that helps.

Thanks!

Do you have a virus scan? A slight possibility that something nasty is in the computer.

Are all the Ventilation Fans running, and at their correct speed?
Central Processor Fan.
Graphics Card Fan.
PSU Fan(s).

I do have Norton anti-virus.
I will also try cleaning out the fans.
What exactly should I do in CCleaner?

Thanks!

When you open it, the opening screen is the scanner, just select everything you want it to clean/delete then go to the next tab and do the same, then hit Run Cleaner. Btw, it will not delete the programs you select, just history/temp files. You can also click Registry on the left and scan your PC for issues, hope you get it sorted.  Smiley
Also, Spybot - Search and Destroy is a nice anti-virus program for free!  Wink

No, sounds like you should be fine! Just tell me if the CCleaner helps and if you have any more trouble with it.

Well, it looks like you might be right!! Grin
Garfield was right about Mondays!! Cheesy
Still no lock-ups this week since Monday!
Actually, I think it is a compatibility issue with another game I have, could that be causing the problem??
