Hello to all, I am a new member and a newbie with FSX.
I was getting to be almost a novice awhile back and then my skills went into hibernation.  I am back and trying to use the P35 Bonanza and can not see out of the plane at all in the virtual cockpit and can see only the instruments in the 2D cockpit.

I have an AMD 64x2 Dual processor machine with an NVidia GeForce 6150 video card operating under WinXP/64 with 2 GB Memory.  Are there any hardware issues with my setup that could be causing the problem?

I searched the site but could not get any hits on this problem,.  If there is a past posting please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have SP1 and SP2? I think the Bonanza requires SP2, otherwise you have to resize all textures (not sure about this) to 1024x1024.

Yup, while me still running SP1, I avoided that plane, but the UKMIL C-130 (for example) has the same problem.
When you launch FSX, go to the bar labeled home, then downloads and scroll down to see SP2.

Yes it is the Bonanza from Brett Henderson.
I thought that I was SP2 but I can not find anything on the box and I can not find an "About".  How do I determine what SP level I am at?

Only way to know is,

Do you have acceleration?

Or do you actually remember installing SP2?

You can always just install it again, doing it again wouldn't hurt anything. However, I doubt you already have it since you are having problems.

Come to think of it it may not be a SP issue. After I reinstalled FSX, the Baron had a gray window in the back.  Also the Space Shuttle worked fine before the reinstall, then the tank and SRB's were gray..
I don't know why it did that though, maybe someone here knows? Undecided

To determine your version....

Once you've started a flight...(alt menu)>Help>About Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Or..in explorer, right click on the FSX.exe file and select 'Properties'. On the 'Version' tab, check the 'file version' or 'product version' item.

I updated to SP1 and I now am flying a Bonanza, not a flying carpet, although that was neat.

Now I have to work on calibrating the throttle, prop and mixture controls as I do not seem to be able to get full power.  The fastest I can cruise at is 135 knots, the specs with the "plane" say cruise at 160 knots, that would be nice.

Should I continue to update to SP2 and Excellerate?

It wouldnt hurt to upgrade to SP2. You can update it alone, or if you do get Acceleration, SP2 is included.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.
