Hey all,
this doesn't always happen, but sometimes my FSX freezes when I press the 'V' key (screenshot capture). To resume flying, I have to alt+tab to the desktop and then back in to the game.
It can be quite annoying when taking lots of screenies, so I've wandered if anyone has any solution for this.

I can't seem to find any pattern for when it freezes or not.

Thanks,

I haven't had any hard freezes like that, but I use "Snapshot", and the sim will freeze for half a second or so, but it's never locked up.

This is just a suggestion. Instead of hitting the V key on the fly why don't you hit the P key "pause" when you see a scene that you might want to get a screen-shot of. That way you can play around with different angles. Zoom in or out and a number of other things then hit the V key.  For me it makes for better screen-shots.

I'm sorry, I probably didn't explain myself well enough.
I pause the sim, get the view I want, and then press V.
Sometimes the sim just freezes - it can't be un-paused.

i don't have any solution to your problem, just a question. you say there is no pattern, but could it be happening in hard on CPU addon sceneries?

It's a problem with the drivers I think.
For example, I have this freezing problem when I try to swith from full screen to windowed mode.
Same if I simply want to minimize the sim to go back to Windows: when I click on FSX in the taskbar, the sim would not come back to life... until I try it again two-three times... (same with window<->full screen)

@jlab58, I'm not quite sure. I run my FSX on the highest settings my computer can handle, though.

@Daube, I take there is no solution for this?  Undecided

Thanks all for your help  Smiley

You might try "Snapshot".

It's at the bottom of the page.

I recommend "Snapper" you use print screen to take your screen-shots. If you are interested 'google' snapper to find it.

Good Luck,

Chief
