Check out NickN's excellent tips:

In general, there's a tradeoff between graphics and running FSX smoothly.
Nick, in his guide, explains where you should choose graphics and where frames - it is an extremely helpful guide, take the time to read it and tweak your FSX as needed.

Over zealous expectations .

Learn as much as you can about what hardware you have, and what hardware FSX requires to meet your exectations, and then go with your best compromise of performance vs. budget .

Even some of the lowliest systems will run FSX, but the setup guides by Nick & realistic expectations for performance on your setup is key.

Even at lower settings, a smooth, properly running FSX is a wonderful thing. Smiley
