Voted pre-1945, but I would like to specify pre-30's

Bi-planes and tri-planes going at it in the first dogfights must have been a truly awe inspiring sight. Cool

When only real men were fighter pilots, and shot at eachother up close and personal. No fancy radars and missiles.... Grin

It would probably be a better distributed poll if WWI and WWII fighters were two separate categories.

Surely the first generation fighters were those used in WWI. I think it would be less confusing if the word Jet was added to the Subject line & the Pre 1945 option removed. I suspect that was what EJW was thinking of when he posted this poll.

My vote goes to 4 gen aircraft!

But where is the F-18 in that list, surely that is a notable aircraft

Two of your "1st Generation" choices should by rights be in the pre-1945, although only one was flying operational missions before then. Smiley

3rd generation. You have 3 amazing fighters in the F 16, Mig, and Flanker.

2nd generation was a very close 2nd place... no pun intended  Grin
