I installed FSX - AI Carrier Scenery and the instructions gives you some flight plans so you can view the AI aircraft in action. I see what appears to be 4 flight plans but none of it makes sense to me ... just a bunch of numbers with no instructions what to do with them.  They don't look anything like a FSX flight plan opened up with Notepad ... so anyone know how you translate all these into some sort of a flight plan??  Here is what is given as one of the flight plans.

AC#5100,T606,1%,8Hr,IFR,00:09:30,00:31:14,060,F,0684,TNCM,02:39:30,03:01:14,070,
F,0685,CXSM,04:39:30,05:03:49,065,F,0686,TAPA,06:19:24,06:43:43,075,F,0687,CXSM

Now I'm sure that means something to somebody ...  so if they can help it would be appreciated.

It's been a little while, and I know I've forgotten a bit of it.

3 files work together to make a traffic.bgl :

 -airport list
 -airplane list
-flight plans (the one you are asking about)

The three are then compiled together into a .bgl file using TTools by Lee Swordy a very handy freeware tool.

Someone with better knowledge can correct me, but it breaks down like this I think:

AC#5100- Which plane (number is from the aircraft list)
,T606- tail number
,1%-what % the traffic slider must be in order to see this plane
,8Hr length of total route(I think)
,IFR-what flight rules
,00:09:30 -departure time
,00:31:14- arrival time
,060-heading
,F- can't remember
,0684- flight number
,TNCM-  departure airport
and so on for additional stops.

For each stop, the flight number , in this case 0684, increases by one:
0685, 0686, etc...

I hope it made some sense.

Thanks ShaneG,
It is making some sense and perhaps I can re-construct it with TTools or AIF Planner ....   I'll check it out.

Appreciate

Ok ... still trying to figure this out!  Does 00:09:30 - departure time mean 9:30 am in the morning?  And if so .... what does 00:31:14 arrival time mean??  I thought military time only went to 24:00?????  Huh Huh

That could be flight time, like I said, I'm a little rusty on this.  Grin Wink

31 minutes makes more sense.

,060-heading
,F- can't remember

actually, the 060 is the Altitude.... 6000 feet, and the F is FLIGHT NUMBER

AC#5100,T606,1%,8Hr,IFR,00:09:30,00:31:14,060,F,0684,TNCM,02:39:30,03:01:14,070,

Aircraft #5 - in your Aircraft.txt file
5100 - Speed
T606 - Tail Number
1% - Ai traffic must be set to at least this amount for craft to show
8Hr - flight occurs at this interval
IFR - type of flight plan
00:09:30 - Departure time
00:31:14 - Arrival time
060 - Altitude
F - ATC is to use the Flight number and NOT the craft Registration #
0684 - Flight number
TNCM - Where is this aircraft supposed to start the flight from.

AI Flight Creator program
...

if anyone wants the program, either GOOGLE for it, or contact me and I will email it to you as I do not remember exactly where i got it at this vert minute.

Capt.Propwash,
I appreciate the response but I'm still confused about the time ... 00:09:30 ....   Here I see three sets of digits starting with 00.  What do these first two zeros signify?  Day?  Hour?  ....  GMT?   The second fp looks like this:

AC#5200,T790,1%,2Hr,VFR,00:02:29,TNG00:38:00,010,R,0000,CXSM,01:02:29,TNG01:38:0
0,010,R,0000,CXSM

CXSM is the aircraft carrier. I keep trying different take off times to see touch and goes on the carrier .. but so far I don't get the air traffic I'm wanting to see. If the T.O. time is 00:02:29 what does that mean in "actual" time?  I think the leading two zeros are throwing me ..... If I set it for 2:29 am it's dark and all my pilots are in bed! ...     Shocked Undecided

ahhhh i think i forgot to tell you all flight times are ZULU, or Grenich Meantime.   In otherwords, if the time is 00:39:14    set YOUR flight to 12:35 AM (ZULU) and then fly around for 3-4 min and you should see the flights flying around.

If you REALLY want a carrier that has flights no matter what time of day or night, and no need to ever look at the flightplans for it.    May I suggest the Waikato Carrier http://www.simviation.com/fs2004scenery6.htm (3rd down).    EXCELLENT design, few AI F18s doing cat/traps, a few other craft playing hide and seek on the New Zeland coast lines, a heli that comes and goes..... and if you have RCBCO-20 installed then you do NOT need "arrestor cables" program to Trap the carrier. Just put your tailhook down and land.

I am not 100% sure what the 1st set of digits do in the FP, but i do remember that all Flight Plans are made in ZULU time.   so just set your time according to ZULU instead of doing by local time, and you should be set.

Capt.Propwash,
I appreciate the feedback .... I'll get it eventually.  I did try the carrier you mentioned but the settings interfered with the carrier I already have installed and ended up putting my aircraft (default is a Cessna 172 in the flights it creates)  under water.   Cry Cry   Anyway .... I'm learning, and your comments helps in that regard.

Thanks again,

granted i do not have vista, but exactly what carrier package do you have?? I have FSX Deluxe, and maybe i can run the flight plan files through my TTOOLS and fix a few bugs in your plans to make them a little better.  Maybe even add a few more craft to it.

if you could provide a link, that would be great!

Actually I run everything on an XP system first before I install on my Vista System so when I break something I still have a working system.  Grin Grin  So my signature is my "best" system ....    Roll Eyes
Yeah ... I picked up the carrier addon here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads-file-1308-details.html under the file name FSX_CV.zip.  I had forgotten where I downloaded it from so I Googled it ... and lo and behold it seems others also could not see the traffic as advertised.  Seems to be some error in the flight plans!  Shocked  It does look pretty cool though:

now i remember why i never download anything from them..... they REQUIRE you to pay $5 to have a membership to be able to download ANYTHING from them.   doesnt matter if it is FREEWARE or not, they still charge a fee to be able to download it.
