For FSX?

Is this hard to install? Looking on their website it seems that everything is for FS2004. I did see a spot for converting to FSX. This addon stuff is new to me... Undecided

These are packaged similar to WOAI if you've ever used that. Many have additional voicepack callsigns and scenery to add even more authenticity, giving the option of just installing the aircraft & flightplans or all the extras. Their support forum is good for helping with adjusting their packages for use in FSX. Why not try downloading one or two packages to see how it goes. It's pretty addictive.

Ive been going back to their website and reading the conversion. From what I read it works too by installing it straing in FSX with minor problems...like scheduled flights during the week, fly on the weekends or something. I will give it a shot when I get out of work.

Thanks for the reply!!

While all MAIW packages are developed strictly for use in FS9 we've come to find out that many of them work just fine in FSX.

Do read the thread on converting some files for FSX though.

Thanks!!

Im just trying to find out as much as I can before I go home and try yo download it and see what happens. Im limited here at the office as what I can see and read on the main MAIW site.

Is it a self-installer?? Or a lot of file digging & replacing files with number and such?

Do these addons slow down the sim?

Do you need Acceleration? SP! & 2?

I did get an email from my neighbor who is giving me a better video card today too. So Im eager to FLY with the add on stuff!  Cheesy

I don't use FSX so I can't comment about SP1 or 2.

All the newer MAIW projects come with self installers. Some of the older ones will use the WoAI installer.

All AI models feature multi-LOD models which take lesser resources from your machine than most older commercial airline models.

But just like anything else, even too much of a good thing can slow things down. But if you have a machine capable of running FSX then running MAIW packages should not be a problem.

Don't give up yet.  Quite a few people use MAIW packages with FSX.

Post on the forum over there and you'll get all the help you need to get all those fantastic military AI working in your sim.

There's no reason for it to be a "total disaster".  Yes, getting the packages to work properly in FSX takes some additional work, but by no means is it beyond the reach of even the most novice of flight simmers.  All the help you ever need is available on our forums, all you have to do is ask.

We're also discussing how to make the packages more FSX friendly in the form of an FSX specific installer, no promises though.

Tell me about it!!

Do you have to go all over the map to all the rest or are they listed somewhere on the sight???

And my guess is that they all have to be converted just like the first set of 25?

We just use the map feature to list the packages on our site.  You can also visit this site:  http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/maiw.php  which is a complimentary site to ours and lists most of our packages in textual format, although it appears that it's not been updated for a while.  Come to think of it, I don't think our map has been updated for a while either.

That site I mentioned also has a tutorial on it on converting the packages to FSX.

And yes they must all be converted, they are only designed and tested for FS9.  But once you've done it a couple times, it is relatively simple to do after that (so I'm told).
