This question was posted by another member some time ago, but as sometimes happens, the replies wandered off subject. Sooooo ....

Has anyone tried these changes, and if so, what were the results like?

I'm sure others are dying to hear (and learn from) others experiences Wink

The question has already been posted, and the answer as well: the result is nothing like FSX. Some users on other forums were dissapointed.

Before posting the question I did a forum search for both "Howard's Mix" and "Extreme Environment Upgrade" going back a year in ALL sections. The only thing it turned up was Cpt.Propwash's original post of 27 June and my own.

Can you provide a clue as to where they can be found?

I didn't check on SimV, but you must be right.
I'm sorry but I'm registered to several FS forums, I get a lot of informations but it's hard to remember where I saw what. However I'm sure about the negative feedback of this people who tried it.

I am but 1 person. while it did DRASTICALLY change the height of mountain peaks, and depths of valleys. It also changes weather, some effects to include Contrails (which look like junk smoke making the plane look as though it is on fire just without the flames), new cloud textures, resize the sun and moon, reshape the shorelines. Overall i would say that it DOES make the scenery much much better, but the biggest downfall on my computer, is the Framerates. I can NOT fly in 3-8 FPS!!!!

to uninstall it, you have to go through disks 3 and 4 and recollect all scenery files. Disk 2 - for Weather and Uires, Disk 1 for Effects and then put them back into your FS9 folder. ............. for all the trouble, may as well RE-INSTALL Angry

if you do decide to download and install it...... 1) make sure you install it to a TEMP folder outside of FSim.

2) BACK UP the folders that it wants to change (so that you dont have to go through the disks to FIX it back to the way it was) {which i did not do ... me = dummy}

Thanks for that, Captain. Think I might give this one a miss and invest instead in 'Ground & Flight Environment' from Flight1.

Not asking for people's experiences with GE and FE, but if anyone has anything worth adding about these ... feel free

Make sure you get the Pro versions. Wink

I have GEP, and I love it, but I've heard that GE is no where near as nice.

For FE, that's a tough one, I love the shots I see with it, but REX for FS9 is just around the corner, so if it were me, I would wait for that one. Wink
