Before I proceed with the installation of the Lynn & Bill Lyons "Silver Wings", I would appreciate it if someone more experienced than I with these two programs could tell me if there is any compatibility issues. The SW installation instructions contain the following statement:- "Silver Wings works best WITHOUT addon roads programs as it relies on full use of maximized autogen to create cities and suburbs."

You can always uninstall one or the other of the two addons.  I'm fairly sure that Silver Wings has an uninstall option.

Personally, I would strongly suggest against installing Silverwings, especially with UT, I'm pretty sure that there is no uninstall and Bill states quite strongly to backup your original textures. Silver wings looks pretty darn good!........as long as you stay in the area that it's intended for, which could work for where you live in central Canada (theres a joke in there  Shocked but I must resist!!  Roll Eyes) Also SW stops looking after about 3000ft then it starts to look like a patchwork quilt......with a re-occuring pattern Tongue
I use Ground Environment and it is a great improvement over default but if I had it to do over again I would strongly suggest VOZ textures....they are for New Zeland and Australia but they can be used globally.......they look awesome ..........and they are free  Cool

have a look  http://www.vistaoz.org/media.html

To the Wizards of VOZ, I thank you. I'll look into that. Those were the kinds of answers I was looking for.

And a Happy Canada Day to you too Romflyer.

An installation Q: I haven't yet installed any payware aicraft into FS9 and I am wondering if all such pay downloads are installed automatically? ( I haven't yet mastered the art of installation and have badly screwed up my files trying (and I thought I was following the Simviation tutorial to the letter, too).  I guess  I am not technically inclined.  Probably due to smoking at an early age.  Undecided

Every payware I have ever purchaced has come with a simple installer. is there anything in particular you are thinking about? personally I've found payware airplanes to be well worth the few bucks that they cost, I'd much rather have a few great planes than alot of mediocre ones.

Rom:  Hi. I like a Super Cub on sale for only $10 -- I like the Cub because I took lessons in it 45 years ago and the default cub on FS9 is terrible. Won't land without ground looping.  I like tail draggers and smaller airplanes with tri gear, single or twin engine,  but can't find too many on the market. Most are jets, military, etc.  Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.

Hey Denis
There's a pretty good PA18 right here at SimV - FSX props P28 - it's also for FS2004.  Be sure to add the patch, right below it.  Also check out the Cessna 140 at FS2004 props P59 and the Luscombe 8A on P79.  All for hairy-chested traildragger types  Smiley.

Just read Rom's post about the Aerosoft model.  It's $9.95.  I have it and it's good but so is the one in SimV.  The payware has lots of models on all kinds of gear and it flys well.  The only thing I didn't like was the prop blur in VC mode - very annoying.  There's a fix but it's a bit labor intensive.

Denis.......I think you will enjoy this http://www.a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=16555
I know I sure did  Wink  I think it's likely to be just for FSX but maybe you need to look into it.
When you finish with the two part video about the sim plane, be sure to look in the ribbon across the bottom and watch the third video about them collecting data from the real one.
Enjoy
Rom
