My dabbling in the screenshot 'pool' - still in the shallow end - has brought this software to my attention.  GTA San Andreas, an FS9 freeware version of the various "bloom" effects available in FSX.  It's had several rave reviews but what, if anything, does the SimV group think of it?

Daube brought this to our attention a while back, and it is VERY nice IMO. Wink

It also works just fine in FS9.

Here are some shots from Daube featuring the bloom in FSX:

And if you click on the, "Got Bloom?" in his signature, it will take you to the thread where he discusses it. Smiley

Just read all seven pages and am perplexed  Smiley.  Loved your second, completely white, screenshot.  Things have obviously improved but, after reading all the little horror stories, I'm a bit nervous.  From the Russian gent's website, this program seems to be a work in perpetual progress.

It is, but as far as I know, the FS people are only interested in a certain older version of the bloom, and then only the bloom section of the .ini file.

It's a mixed bag of results for me. In FSX, I get white screens, but in FS9, it works just like it should.  Some have it work perfect in both, some get nothing in both.

It's all about that wonderful Russian roulette style game of computers.  Everyone's is different, and you never know what you'll get for results until you pull the trigger. Cheesy Wink

It's worth trying, as all you do is drop 2 files into your FS9/FSX main folder, and if it doesn't work, simply delete them and that's it. No mess left behind, and nothing overwritten to backup. Wink

My second love in flight sims is Strike Fighters, that community has just jumped all over this Bloom dll, the vast majority of guys into that series are finding that this program gives a HUGE boost in FPS as well as the cool effect  Cool most guys have gone from like 25fps to 40-50fps  Shocked ........of course theres always the other part of the group(including Me Roll Eyes) who's fps got cut in half using it, from what I can gather it likes Vista much more than XP.
I'll try it this weekend in FS9 and see if I have anymore luck than in I do in Strike fighters.

As Shane said, its just 2 files that you drop into your main directory and if it doesnt work well then you just delete them......nothing to lose  Wink

Are we talking about the 0074f version and exactly which two files am I dropping into FS9?

I think it's the 0074g. (newer versions may work, I've never tried. Wink )

You put the files: 'd3dx9 26' and  'enbseries.ini'  into FS,
they just go right in the main directory, no special folders or anything.

When that's done, open up the enbseries.ini with notepad,
and erase everything in it,  and replace it with the one Daube posted in his thread.

Start FS9 and press shift+F12 and see what happens. Wink

If it doesn't work, or does weird things, just take those two files out of your FS folder, and it's all gone. Smiley

Hi all, sorry for the late feedback, been away from the computer Smiley
Shane, I have read that sometimes an antialiasing set too high can give troubles in the bloom module. You might want to play with your video card settings ?

Concerning the bloom module itself, the old version 0.74g beta 7, the only one I'm using, is not available anymore for download. I'm thinking about contacting the author to request from him the authorization to upload this old version to Simviation. I think it would be nice to have it in the SimV library, both in FS9 utilities and FSX utilities sections, but we need the authorizations from the author first. I still have this archive, and I could even upload the INI file with my actual settings if this guy would allow us to do that.

I'm always using this old 0.74 version because everything since 0.75 had terrible performance hit on my computer.
