Is there a way to adjust, in game, the color/brightness of the heads up display on military jets? I have been unable to find any reference to it.

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Well, I guess you could edit the HUD brightness in the gauge files, as long as they're in *.CAB files.  Although this would require decompiling and then recompiling them.  For this you would need the Panel and Gauges SDK.

yes and no.

if you have the F14Drev3 (near bottom of page: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military126.htm)

there is a button on the panel that can switch the HUD from bright green (night flight / low level flight) to a dark green (daytime / high level flight)

there are a few other craft that I have seen with this capability, and i do have 2-3 that can do it, but it would take me a while to go though my list to see exactly what planes, and then what .GAU''s they are to put on your panel.

Thanks. That is exactly what I was talking about. I'm not sure if that is one of the F-14s I have without looking. But one of mine is currently not working and I no longer have the download. I intend to download it again, but I am probably going to re-install FS9 in a couple of weeks so I am trying not to download any more for now. I also ordered 3 gigs of ram just now and hope to have my setup in much better shape in a couple of weeks.

just make sure you backup your AIRCRAFT, ADDON SCENERY, GAUGES, EFFECTS, and MODULES folders BEFORE you uninstall just to keep everything that you have pretty much already put in.

I myself, am looking at a possible uninstall  Undecided  I had added in some NICE ground textures that appearently are worldwide, and as nice as they may look..... GOOD GOD !! i went from 25-30fps down to 4-5 WITH CLEAR WEATHER!!!!

anyways..... i am really good at placing gauges on a .bmp / .jpeg background for a panel, so if you need/want any help replacing the hud, or switches, just shoot me a pm.

Thanks for the advice and the offer, I'll keep it in mind. What scenery did you add that was global? I might be able to use it when I get my ram.

it is [ Howards Mix The FSX Experience Revised ] dont worry, it IS for FS9::: http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?ID=85&page=1000

Direct Download:: http://www.simviation.com/simviation/download.php?ID=5457

oddly enough... 3 above this scenery upgrade, is MY KDVI that is messed up, and that I am having to TOTALLY rework!  Angry lol

i would suggest this upgrade if you have a upper-end decent computer with at least 3+ Gigs of ram and a NICE vidcard and mobo so that hopefully your frames wont drop like mine did. -- let me know how it turns out when you do get it.     ....... oh, and also, find your FS9.cfg and change the TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL= to equal either 20 or 21 for best results.  I have it set at 20.  there are a few other tweaks to your OPTIONS > DISPLAY , but those are just fine tuning your screen.

Thanks. I may consider it when I get my ram. Don't know if my video card is good enough or not, it's a ATI Radeion 9800 Pro. And what is mobo?
Already changed the vertex level, had to for Glacier Bay.
