Does anyone know how to correct this issue? I had to reinstall FS9 recently and don't remember a fix for this problem. it really sucks to fly for a few hours and finally land perfectly and then it says you crash because your plane is in the freakin' ground!  Angry

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

Could be an AFCAD problem

It would help if you gave the proper error message

There is no error message. When I land the gear and sometimes the lower part of the aircraft go into the runway. Sometimes I can still taxi other times it just says I've crashed and starts the flight over.

I had thought this was a common issue when FS9 came out?

Either your landing is too brutal (and your gears get damaged), either it's a scenery problem.

It's got to be a scenary thing. I definitely won't say all my landings are "gems"  Roll Eyes but again, I'm kinda surprised no one else has this issue out here?

It might be a bug with specific airports. Which ones is this happening with? Have you tried landing somewhere different?

This happened with Austin-Bergstrom International last night. I've seen it with others but can't remember which airports they were.

If that's the case, that it's a bug and there's nothing we can do about it, I can live with that. I had just thought there had been a fix for this.

If this is a bug with specific airports it's possible they've already been fixed. If not you could probably fix it yourself.

So you're saying there is a patch that will fix this (if it's "already been fixed?"). How can I fix it myself? Any instructions somewhere?

We don't know it is a bug yet. Perhaps someone will check this airport out for you to confirm there is a problem.

Have you ever installed a scenery update to this airport or the area it's in?

No scenery updates at all to FS9. I have downloaded a few planes but this happened with one of the stock aircraft (747). I will try to land there again tonight (when I get home).

If I remember from the last time I had FS9 installed, it seems to happen when you fly from one airport to another. it's not consistent at all but I have a feeling if I take off from Austin-Bergstrom and then circle and land there, it will be fine (almost like the aircraft knows the altitude of the airport since it just took off from there).  <??> Just a thought.

I will try again and report back.

Start a flight, press the "Y" button to enter "slew" mode, then select to go to an airport you're having trouble with, and hit "F1".

Does the plane sink below the runway?

Do you have (or have you upgraded to version) 9.1?

I just tried it too. No problems here. I do however have 9.1 and some add-on mesh. Not sure which (if either) makes it work.

Ignore my previous reply. I deleted it. The problem was with my aircraft. (Must have been tweaking it for some reason.) I don't usually fly heavies. I tried it with the default B747 on full realism & all seems fine.

PS. I'm using FS9 out of the box with no addon scenery in this area.

I'm having trouble recreating it as well in the slew mode directions given to me by Groundbound1. I suppose it could be my landings but I didn't see anything where it talked about hard landings and the gear breaking or not functioning? Does that really happen?

I'll continue to fly and if it happens again, I will take a screenshot and post it out here.

. . . . and yes, I now have 9.1. I did not until today. Just downloaded it. You think that could be it?
