This entry actually involves 5 pics.
The year is 1977. Pan Am Boeing 747 sets a speed record for circling the globe over both poles on a 26,383 mile flight from San Francisco in 54 hours, 7 minutes and 12 seconds. Your task is to use the appropriate aircraft/livery and take shots from 1) Take off from the appropriate airport..... 2,3,4) find the re-fuelling stops and shoot your aircraft on the ground re-fuelling at each one, ( you must identify the airports or fuel stops as well) then finally 5) a shot of it landing again to complete its record flight, of course again at the appropriate airport.

Ok here we go...the livery changes a little, but that's cos I kept having to reinstall the aircraft and reload the textures for each shot quickly before they went grey again.... a couple were taken un anti aliased, but the resizing seems to have helped them

KSFO takeoff (Over half moon bay)

LHR refuel

Cape Town refuel

Auckland refuel

Landing back at KSFO

Soames checks in:

Take off from San Francisco

First Stop: London

Then Cape Town

Auckland

And then, back home.

Phew - what a mother of a comp. But it was an easy choice, surprisingly.... well done to both, though, for all that effort!

Technically, I would argue that Soames's 3rd pic isn't showing at parked up for refuel, but waiting at the runway....but I'm not going to argue...I got well and truly trounced...I hate my PC Grin

Cheers Mic, but it's not over yet.

I don't know about you but after that comp, I'm tired. I almost feel like I've flown the journey.

I'm actually looking forward to buzzing around the Bristol channel again. Wink

Soames has knocked off the powerful Mic in a difficult category. So close to 5.....now it's up to Soames (1 win) to defend his title and go for win number 2 against jlangholz. Watch the Studio for the new thread. Count on the upcoming category to be a killer....
