I previously posted a topic in the flight simulaotr x section, asking how do pilots get lined up with the runway miles out becasue i was always making sharp turns at the last minute to land. They told me to learn about a VOR Apporach.

I read all the tutorials about it, and to me, they dont say how to do it, they just tell you about it. im confused of actually how to use this. Can anyone hep?

There is no simple explanation for a  VOR approach. There are several types and several, steps involved. Here's a very simple VOR approach plate. I'm not going to get into specifics here, because we'll be covering them soon in the Flight School (you're welcome to join in).

...

To execute a VOR approach safely and realistically... there are a lot of instrument procedures and concepts you'll need to understand. The old "gotta walk before you run" deal  Smiley  Which also means learning it all in a nice, slow C172, before trying it in a big, fast jet.. That goes for getting lined up with a runway and safely on the ground, too. Ya can't do that in jets before you can do it in a little Cessna (including navigating (no GPS) and doing it all in poor visibility (no auto-pilot).

If you're bound and determined to try instrument approaches in jets, before you can realistically fly a Cessna..  A member (Nav) put this ILS tutorial together.. It's very good..

Seriously though.. the whole thing will make more sense (and be more rewarding) if you learn it step-by-step.. properly and realistically  Smiley

Sounds more like maybe you want to know how to program the autopilot to line you up... is that correct?
