The South Downs that is. Devil's D-yke is a local beauty spot just north of Hove. It's a popular site for hang gliding when the wind is in the right direction. Conditions were almost perfect yesterday so I took a little trip up there to see what was going on.
View from the top of Devil's D-yke looking west. The three radio masts are on the top of Truleigh Hill with Chanctonbury Ring in the distance.
This is the small village of Fulking at the bottom of the hill. Yes, you read it right & we've heard all the jokes.
Here's some of the intrepid aviators enjoying the beautiful countryside in the Autumn sunshine.
Hagar is now a film star.
I was approached by a film crew who asked if I minded them filming me while I was taking some of these shots. They promised to send me a copy of the film when it's finished.
PS. I had to type it D-yke as the auto-censor doesn't like the correct name of this outstanding beauty spot. What a load of bollocks.

Wow, cool pictures!
I can't help but think that the hang gliders look like their wearing a body bag just in case....

Some educational thing. Probably not on general release. I forgot to ask the director for his card.

So you'll be changing your ID from Hagar To Mr. de Nero and telling people to contact your agent from now on then Doug?

If Doug was out in a raincoat then he'd be like Terry Jones as the flasher in Monty Pythons Flying Circus (I think it was the Frontal Nudity episode). He kept flashing women and eventually the camera and he is fully clothed and wearing a sign on a bit of string around his neck saying "Boo!"

Great shots. Hang gliding has always looked like a whole lot of fun. ...some day. You're going to post a lyoutube link to the video in the video forum when it comes out right?

Thanks for the comments, puns & rude suggestions.
It will be interesting to see the film when it's finished. My part in it will probably end up on the cutting room floor.

It was chilly enough around the ol' lug'oles for them to need those "body bags". All joking aside there have been several nasty fatal accidents at this site since hang-gliding became popular in the early 1970s. One involved a collision between a hang-glider & a R/C model glider. I remember it well. Fortunately the modeller did not belong to my club.

Those bags must be warm, but you'd better be quick zipping them open when getting close to the ground...

Lovely shots again Doug - although my favourite part of the thread was you typing 'bollocks' - never thought I'd see you say that on here.
Cheers,
