Hi fellow simmers, captjim here,
I have upgraded my system and I finally am able to use my FSX. It's great. My problem is this, when the program opens in the cockpit view (2d) you cannot see over the panel. In FS2 & FS9 all you had to do was push the enter & shift key to raize the seat, so to speak. Is there a simple key stroke in FX that will do the same thing??? Thanks, captjim

Hey Captjim, I have had the identical problem. I finally had to resort to the "+" or "-" on the keyboard. It reduced my zoom rate to .30 and I could finally see. I have tried everything but can not find an easy fix. In fs9 I just assigned a joystick button to eyepoint but not so in FSX. It only works in VC. I'm presently playing with some gauges I found in FS9 aircraft to see if they work in FSX.
Congrats on the new system!!

Hi uncleyuk, I have also used the + & - tools but as you said it does not give you a very good view. I have to resort to the W view and eliminate the panel, especially when landing. I guess it's a small price to pay for the great graphics, eh??? Captjim

For the 2D panel, I cannot help, because I never use that thing (yeah, I hate it)
For the virtual cockpit however, you can modify your view point with the key combinations:
- SHIFT + CTRL + ENTER
- SHIFT + CTRL + BACKSPACE
- CRTL + BACKSPACE
- CTRL + ENTER
- SHIFT + ENTER
- SHIFT + BACKSPACE
This will move the view point up, down, forward, backward, left and right, but I don't remember exactely which does what. Also for the zoom in the virtual cockpit, I recommend 0.50 or smaller, it will give you a nice angle of view, showing a good part of the cockpit and the outside.
Got bloom ?
Got mountains ?
Got damage ?

REmember that in FSX you can now control the transparency of the 2D panel to help the view through it.

well pretty much everytime some one comes along with a question about "raising their seat in the 2-D panel" I say, "hey, FSX has a panel transperency feature you can activate it by yada yada yad...." and yet they seem to not be listening.

Just grab the panel with the mouse, and move it down. No need for goofy buttons to change the seat height and everything.

That's like gouging your eyes out because you've got an eyelash in one of them.
