Hello,

I have downloaded a B717 for FS9 and installed it in FS9 and the B717 is there.  I copied the B717 folder to my sim objects/airplane folder in FSX and the B717 will not show up in FSX.  I have done this many times with other aircraft downloaded from simviation.  Can anyone tell me what to look for as to why the B717 will not show up?  I did delete and reinstall so see if that was it.  I did look at the aircraft.cfg file comparing this file to the file of other downloads and can see no reason why the B717 will not show up.

Regards,

Rod

I downloaded the FS2004 file from the avsim.net library.  The zip file is jca_717-200.zip.  I unzipped this and installed into FS9 and the aircraft are there.  I then copied the aircraft folder from FS9 to FSX.  I have no idea if it has a virtual cockpit since I can not make it work in FSX.

I also downloaded zip file jc717fsx.zip and according to the readme file in this all I had to do was copy the aircraft.cfg file from the jc717fsx file into my jca_717-200 file and it should work.

Any help or ideas will be appreciated.

Regards,

Rod

I have this aircraft and it's a beauty, I even posted shots of it! Wink

All you got to do is change the panel, I suggest copying the default 737-800 panel folder into the 717 folder. Or download the MD-80 panel found here. The reason it doesn't work in FSX is because the 717 panel is alised to the FS9 panel of the 737-400, which isn't in FSX, so the FSX doesn't reconise it!

I hope this helps!

Thanks Mab_08, I will give the panel a try.  You may also have solved another problem, with the new panel I see that there is a fix for the speed control on the MD-80 not working so maybe that will fix my MD-80 and MD-83 problem.

Best regards,

Rod

Thanks a lot mab_08 I learn something new about the misterious FSX ..

FSX is basically no more mysterious than previous versions of FS. If the aircraft the panel is aliased to is missing the aircraft won't show up. My old Aliasing article* explains it. http://www.simviation.com/lair/aliasing1.htm

*PS. Note that it was originally written for FS98/CFS1.

Well Mab_08, I downloaded the suggest MD80 panel along with the fix for the speed control and it worked and it also fixed the speed button problem in my MD80's and MD83's.  Thanks a lot for the help.

Do you happen to know where I can get a texture for an actual MD95?  I wanted the B717 is so I could fly something similar to an MD95.  It is my understanding that the early B717 with the eyebrow cockpit window is a MD95 it just happens to have been built in Long Beach after Boeing bought out MD.

Best regards,

Rod
