Yup, you'll have to pay to get the content on the acceleration pack. It's just like any other game's expansion pack... payware. The only thing Microsoft will release free of charge is SP2 which will be out after Acceleration.

Actually. many "game" expansion pack are totally free and are offered  as a thank to their customers.
M$ on the other hand, is obviously not as appriceiative  of their customers. What other conclusion is one to come to?

Will it be discounted at the least or will I have to pay $70 again for the Deluxe version of the expansion pack?  And will it be worth it?

Its an add on, just like you buy the DC10 pack or the 767-300ER.  I assume no discount, its an add on which is or will be priced accordingly.  A good deal no doubt for those who want it.  I won`t be buying it, the only thing that might vaguely interest me is the aircraft carrier.  Judging by the comments though its going to be an excellent add on for those who are interested in the contents in their entirety.

Those who purchase Acceleration will get SP2 with it. SP2 will be included with the expansion pack but will be delayed for download to the rest of the market while ACES confirms the stand alone will indeed deliver the same for everyone, regardless of purchasing Acceleration.

As for the add-on, I do understand the thought that it should be free however it is not a update and adds moving carriers, lots of missions and other things that cost money to develop. I for one would have preferred more go into DX10 and fixes all the way around but the bottom line is they are in business to make money and as such I respect the decision to charge for the work, which cost them to develop.

Forget what you saw in screenshot for DX10 last year, its not going to happen. DX10 will lean more toward performance than visual upgrade although there will be some of that and more for DX9 users too in the SP2 update.

FS11 is probably where the DX10.1+ development will put the screenshots posted last year into the realm of reality. And I do hope they all get that 64Bit is something that should be seriously considered in FS11.

I wish Phil would contact the Windows team and put pressure on them to remove that FSX screenshot from the MS website. That to me is really pushing the advertising BS limits and I can't believe it makes his job in public relations easier to deal with.

I mean, of course it is going to cost some money, but $70 will just be too much after purchasing the original for $70.  It's not like you can run it with out the original FSX, so I'd say $30 at minimum to $50 at the absolute max would be reasonable.

LOL

Seeing how just clouds and water can run you 45 bucks http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=flt1fex , or landclass FOR THE USA ONLY can run you 35 http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=utxusa , or, a combination of clouds/water and some graphics manipulation can run you 70 http://www.hifisim.com/asx-xgraph.html , what MS is asking is not outrageous unless you do not run a well built sim to begin with.

I expect it will also fall in price over a period of time too.

Oh man, not that stupid painting again...
I wonder how much people will come crying after they have installed SP2, complaining about the fact that it looks just like DX9, and not like the painting  Grin
