Hello again, simple question for you today, so..........do you miss concorde??

i do sort of i only saw it fly once and i have never forgotten that moment since, i also have been on the G-BOAC version at manchester intl (you pay for a tour), it was great! Cheesy

I'd like to think that I do, but miss is the wrong word. I never flew on Concorde or even saw it fly. I've been into the 002 prototype at the Yeovilton Air Arm Museum, but that doesn't really seem the same.

I just feel that it's such a shame that a great aircraft is no longer doing what it was designed for.

I have to agree that having seen one in operation, I miss them.

Saw one taxiing at JFK once (while taxiing in another plane), and saw one in flight once, flying low over NYC on a foggy, overcast day (I guess it was heading into JFK, but not by the usual route to the east).

Yes. Although I can't really say that as I only ever saw Concorde flying twice on the very rare occasions she visited East Midlands. At that time, to me Concorde was just another plane. I wasn't even remotely interested in aviation at the time. It is a great shame that they're no longer in service, but business is business... Roll Eyes

I remember watching the last scheduled services landing at heathrow and I don't think I'll ever forget it. All I remember thinking while I was watching was how I'll never fly on it let alone see it flying again. Ever. Cry

For quite a few weeks after that, I was heckled pretty much nonstop by my "friends" at school for being saddened by Concorde's retirement. Although that's probably because they'd rather be proud of the England football team rather than what is in my opinion, Britain's greatest engineering achievement...

Yes ..... Had it fly low over my house on visits to Liverpool airport (EGGP - Speke - John Lennon airport) and watched it both landing and taking off at Heathrow.

Scrapping it was a huge step backwards in aviation ...... (it could have been saved......... not a discussion for this thread.)

used to fly over my house when I lived in bristol at night during the summer, seen it countless times and my grandfather helped design various parts of it, still cant say I really miss it. It's a shame its not, but the simple fact is, flying or not it has no effect on me personally.

I barely saw it, and even those few occasions are merely distant memories. But I still miss it, it was a shining example of how British / European manufactures were still able to beat the 'mighty' American counterparts. When it was retired aviation technology took a huge leap backwards. All the everday Airbus and Boeing we see put together can't match the character and spirit of just one Concorde. It mightn't have been as efficient as a Boeing 747, or as cheap as an A320, but seeing a Concorde was something special, no other civilian airliner can come close to equalling it.
