If you don't know, i live in Porthleven - a small fishing village 2 miles from RNAS Culdrose. From about 8:00pm there has been 2 Sea Kings from 771 squadron flying VERY low over the village. As i write this (11:00pm) one is hovering over the harbour, the other is above some field a short distance away. As it is dark they are using bright spotlights. 771 is one of the SAR squadrons at Culdrose but they are not searching the coast, they are searching the village, nearby forest and hills... any ideas what this could be about? They are searching in the fasion of a police chopper looking for a suspect. I'm used to the choppers buzzing about but this is very out of the ordinary.

Thats what i thought... but there are people up in the fields with torches... i think they're looking for something.

Just saw in the local papers, they were looking for some kid (i vaguely know him actually - he lived by the chip shop). It turns out his dad had just announced he was off to Basra and the boy ran away... can't really blame him. Anyway, they eventually found the poor kid hiding under his bed.
