yeh, so that takes it down to more or less personal preference. the blue angels (in what ive seen of them) just go simple formations but the arrows do some crazy ass stuff such as the chippo (or however ya call it) break away and the spinning around trails

Was this just a flyby or a full-on combined display? I'm really hoping the latter is true...

Wouldn't it be great to combine the best elements of the two teams - the Blue Angels' tight formations, speed and power, with the Red Arrows' mad aerobatics, daring stunts and variety? That would be mind boggling.

I have always been a big fan of the Reds. I've seen them many times since they were first formed but I would hardly describe their display as "mad aerobatics" or "daring stunts". That sort of thing is for the barnstormers & not a highly professional national display team.

I'm just a humble 13-year old struggling to find words and phrases worthy of the Reds. O.k then, I'll have another crack at it;

Highly organized, sophisticated, varied routine leaving those who see it gasping for breath by the end. It involves illusions of proximity, hand in hand with actual proximity, along with immense skill and ingeniuity. The maneuvers they pull off are complex and are equal to works of art in my mind, and many others.

yeh, now like every air event requires the planes to fly parallel to the crowd at the closest. but the reds and others do fly at the crowd then break away

i think that just about covers them, but also 'crazy SOABs' as my dad calls them covers them too. damn its great when they shout and scream down their radios to the crowd

Sorry to butt in again. The only one the crowd hears speaking on the radio during the display is Red One, the team leader issuing orders like "Smoke ON - GO" or "Break". His voice is distorted by his oxygen mask & G forces.
