Forgot to answer the last part of your post. If the flight tuning scalars are already there, try adjusting them. Funny, in my download (yesterday) the scalars were not there.

I just re-downloaded the files from both locations that I tried, and neither one had scalers, so maybe I screwed something up or had a corrupt file.

~S~

There's a PT-19 here ready to go in CFS2: http://www.mudpond.org/aircraft2_index.html

Near enough?

All of the mudpond stuff is excellent as I remember.

Jimski,

Thanks for your help.  I got everything to work right finally.  The right wing and tail of the plane don't show up when I pan around with the hat switch, but they show up when I use the chase camera.  Did you have the same problem?  Is there a way to fix this?  It looks like all the files are there in the textures file, but I don't know why they don't show up.  Sorry for all the questions, but there's no where else to get this info.  Thanks for your help.

Good. What was the problem with the takeoff noseover?

Yes, my right wing does not appear in virtual cockpit. It may be an fs2000 thing. The DingoIV Stearman had all sorts of virtual cockpit problems in cfs2 but was perfect in fs2002.

I never actually found out what the caused the nose over problem.  Went back and checked the CFG file for the aircraft and found that there was nothing in there, but I swear i had seen something in there before that talked about the CG and weight, because I messed around with it.  Anyway, that wasn't there anymore, so I pasted in the scalar stuff you gave me, and it worked fine.

Thanks for your help!

I took Padser's hint and got the Mudpond pt-19. Quite nice and a small file. Flies about perfect. I swapped out the 700mph airspeed dial for a 200mph. There was another change I made in there since in Mission Builder it would fly too fast. Once done I brewed up a "mission" of shooting touch and goes like a real student with some ai pt-19's flying the same pattern so I had to keep my spacing on them. The pt-19 also comes with a nice readme text that explains the aircraft used in training in the US in WW2.

Go to CFS2 at Simouthose. There you will find a PT-17. I think it is called  Stermen PT-17A02.This one is nice. This one is from FS2004.The big problem is your frame rates. I have both PT-17s.If you use them as AI stactic or flying AC you will notice a large frame rate hit. They also have a nice BT-13 inFS2004 that is being converted to CFS2.I have been working on bases along the east coast of the US and will I hope start soon building training missions .

The training mission I brewed up has been fun to fly with four other pt-19s in the pattern. It would be more fun if they would actually land, touch and goes would be perfect but I don't think the ai aircraft will do that. I can't even get them to land at all, so I have them doing low approaches with each trip around the pattern. Do you know of a way to get the ai aircraft to actually land at the base or fly very close to ground level. It looks like mission builder limits them to 164' agl.

That stearman was much better.  The panel doesn't work quite right, but other than that, it's great.
