HI, Have had great fun over the years with flight sim and have never had to use this before thanks to all you professionals asking & answering the questions for me. Have recently moved on to fsx and had fun till now. I have a problem with sound- ie, cant hear all atc messages because of what sounds like radio static and the same sound when raising or lowering the flaps.  I have tried to reinstall but it hasn't fixed the problem, other than deleting registry files does anyone know of a solution ? Oh and wish all simers a Happy New Year.

no that didn't work either but nice try.
When uninstalling the fsx it leaves behind junk in the registry files, I feel sure the problem is in there but don't know how to find it-------------------anybody??

Hi

I have had this happen. Only once so far. It was during a mission flight, I don't remember which one. I thought it was just part of the mission. I only experienced it during ATC communications. I thought it was suppose to be that way. I haven't it happen since and no other sounds were affected during that mission.

I don't have a microphone hooked up. So it might be safe to rule that out.
I'm using onboard audio, 2ch with sub. Connection is one 'green' plug. It's a Realtek AC-97. The drivers are the ALCXWCM.SYS, version 5.10.0000.5630.

I don't have any advice, I'm sorry. I just wanted to let you know I too have heard the static sound you speak of.

I hope you can find a fix. Who knows, I might end up needing it too.

EDIT:
Reg Supreme is a very good tool for cleaning out useless reg entries. I believe they have a free version or trial period.

You running a sound card OR on board sound?

If a sound card, update drivers, if onboard sound, get ya a sound card.

Thanks Formula 1 & Fireman for the advice. I have installed " Soundmax Intergrated Digital HD Audio" so it should be ok as the set up works fine for all other programs that require speakers or mic. surely if the problem lies with soundmax then it would happen all the time, not every other ATC comunication or every other flap movement.  Will look now to see if there any driver updates, thanks once again.
