Well as Im sure you know I was very dissappointed at WOH because not only did I not get to see N25673 fly, but she didnt even show! BUT on sunday I am going to the museum where she is based for their flyday, the day that they take out a bunch (if not all) of their collection for one last day of flying before being stored/maintained during the winter.
I KNOW that I will SEE N25673, I am praying that she flies, and I would be the happiest man on earth if she gives rides

Very sad, but take heart: all of us DC3 lovers are fortunate in that that type is still flying, even workaday flying, in healthy numbers. If not 673, there is some other Douglas, maybe a grubbier one, still flying almost every weekend, or even every day.
I've found that any old DC3 or C47 will do for me to get my "fix"... although of course my latest dream is to be able to afford the time and money for a type rating.
I get a warm glow just thinking about that.

I'm quite surprised you haven't seen a DC3 in the air, already! I've seen them plenty of times over here, and I would have thought it would be the same for most people living in the US.

There are a lot of them flying at airshows in the US, Ive just never seen one. N25673 didn't come to WOH this year, and the nearest C-47 that I know of that flies is in Dallas, which is about 6 hours north of here.
But even if I dont see her fly tomorrow, I think I might be able to convince my parents to take me to Oshkosh this summer as a graduation gift...

I've seen a few DC3s since 2003, saw the Air Atlantique quote in the flying display at their show, and obviously I've seen the BBMF Dak many times, all I can think of, but not bad for someone living in the far north reaches of England.

I've seen daks loadsa times in the past. The DDA used to visit Valkenburg NAS loadsa times! I've seen the Ph-dda the most of all.. Saw here a couple of days before she crashed. I've seen all of the Dc-3's of them. Also I've seen their DC-4 and once I've seen the DC-2 fly. Hoping next year will let me see more of the DC-2 and Hopefully the Constellation as well.
I've also seen Fifi Kate which was based at lelystad for a bit. Seen her a coupla times

Wel she didn't fly, but she started up. That smokey start was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Hopefully in April they'll get her into the air...

If you're ever in Topeka, Kansas Jakemaster, there is a club at Forbes Field that has a C-47 an S-2 Tracker that recked a year or two ago... the C-47 is flown quite often, they even sell out rides in her (im thinking $75 to $100 but that may have just been Freedom Day low rates.) the S-2 crashed landed in a Corn Field up in Indiana a while back and they are slowly getting her back to flying condition. Might be something to check out, I myself have not been to Topeka in some time, so I do not know the latest news on this club.
