Hi Guys/Gals
Just a quick one, after some frustration with the low fps issue i came across a posting http://msmvps.com/blogs/thenakedmvp/archive/2006/10/06/Symantec-and-McAfee-Drive...
Did what the Man Said
My Computer works so Much faster now its Fantastic
Got a extra few fps
but i reckon we still have to wait For DX10 and Vista to come along and show us what FSX is really capable of Doing!

Thought I was the only one who felt like this. I have Symantec on 3 pcs at home. I finly got so fed up with all the crap it had running I uninstalled it. Since it's my simming PC and I don't read emails or ims or browse site I dont already know are trustworthy I only have MS's firewall installed along with my ISPs AV prog. I'll have to keep Symantec on my laptop cuz I'm on the net quite a bit with it, but I can't see paying Symantec to screw with my pc's performance to such a large degree.

NOD 32 is what the standard should be when it comes to PC protection!

bbstackerf, you could just remove all the Symantec crap and grab yourself one of the many free AV alternatives, AVG is a good one, works much better also, but if your going to pay for protection do yourself and your pc a favor and get NOD32.

Only thing you need to keep yourself safe is NOD32, Windows Firewall (or none at all if on dial up) and common sense Wink

Thanks PI. I'll definitely check out NOD 32. For now though, like you said 'common' sense I think is the key. So much crap anymore to worry about on the net.

Thanks for posting the link, Fly. This PC I use at work has a prog called bitDefender. The company installed it.

I have been screaming this for a long time...

GET RID OF NORTON AND MCAFEE

NOD32 is the only way to go... I fly with it enabled and have never had the program cause any issues during sim use

The ONLY McAfee product that works without nailing your PC is the Professional Coprorate Edition which requires a minimum of 11 licenses be purchased on a corporate account.

Someone always jumps in and says this in these threads; so it might as well be me  Tongue

I surf, email, game, research, Google, blog, bank and shop on-line.  I do all those WAY more than the average person; and do them WAY more hours per day than the average computer user.

I've NEVER run an A/V program of any kind... other than downloading something like AVG now and then for a scan to satisfy curiosity.

I DO run Adaware and Spybot, regularly.

I've never gotten a virus, worm or bug. (except once.. and we won't talk about that, 'cause I know how, when, where and why I got it   Embarrassed   )

Never open emails from people you don't know. Stay away from icky web-sites and never insert CDs, DVDs or floppys that you aren't 100% sure of, safety-wise..

You'll be just fine  Wink
