Did you try just removing the .cfg like you can do in FS9 and let the sim build a new one?

If a replacement texture was bad it could crash the sim but it seems strange that it would cause problems on starting the sim. Usually at that point it's only loading the .cfg and user interface. It doesn't start loading textures until you pick a flight and load that.

Might be time to reinstall. At least FSX is new enough that you don't have a ton of add ons and payware to reinstall.

If you do reinstall and want to try the tweaks again you might want to do them one at a time and test after each one. That way you'll know what caused the problem.

Thanks for your help. I think i will reinstall. But not now. I want to wait until Microsoft comes up with something. I am pretty appauled at FSX. I cant even imagine how it runs on a computer with minimum system requirements. I have am AMD 3500 2.2 ghz processor and 1 gb of ram and a REadeon 9550 video card and i cant even run FSX at half setting when i can run FS9 at full and get 60-70 FPS. im pretty upset

The minimum specs that MS claims for the FS series is a well known joke. It's been the same from FS2000 to FSX. I think it's really what it will take to display the splash screen.

MS support tech: "What, you mean you actually tried to fly an airplane with that system?"   Grin
