Hello all...Grin...!

To reduce the load in memory and increase the speed due to the highly detailed Auto-gen trees in FSX I have (saved and) removed the Default tree set from FSX and replaced them with the low detail tree set from FS 2004.

This seems to have speeded things up somewhat, (and the scenery Auto-gen can be wound up higher), but many of the high detail trees still remain in the scenery.

The FS 2004 low-res trees can be identified from above by their cruciform shape, whereas the FSX trees are full-blown 3D.

Observing the trees from above, a mix of low detail and high detail trees can be observed, both separate and overlapping each other!

This is the low-res tree set I have transferred from FS 2004 to FSX:
treesfa, treeshw, treessp, treessu and treeswi, (which are Gerrish Grey's replacement tree set).

Can anyone identify the list of FSX high-res trees in the Texture Folder so that they can be removed (and saved)....?

Many thanks all...Wink...!

Paul...   8)...!

Note: Although the 3D FSX trees look fantastic, they do slow "things" down, and the FS 2004 2D trees appear almost as good and are less recourse-hungry....Wink...!

For the same reasons, has anyone an idea how to transfer the low-res FS 2004 Auto-gen buildings and textures over to to FSX to replace the high-res default ones...?

What about the textures found in the FSX folder? How many of them start with "tree..." in the name ? Maybe there are more files than FS9 had, since there are more kinds of trees...

By the way, by changing the textures you won't be able to change the 3D shape of those trees, but nevertheless, by providing low-res textures for those objects, you'll definitely lower the graphic CPU charge.

For the buildings, I think you can get some usefull start list by opening the content of the archive 'resautog.zip', which contained low res textures for buidings. Maybe transfering them directly in FSX would at least replace some of the FSX textures by low res ones...

thats a good solution
i installed some of the fs9 default aircraft and they help...alot!

but i know what this sounds like. if i wanted it to look like fs9 i would have stuck with it. but just one of these solutions alone will help. while still preserving that x shineness

big or small i like them all ...? that dosent sound right&&slew mode dose not count as flying&&737-700aholic
