I certainly agree, I've found that since becoming a designer my love of Flight Sim for actually flying has all but disappeared.  No all my hours seem to get put in within a 20 mile radius of RAF St Mawgan (which I used as a design base) and are almost entirely confines to whatever aircraft I'm working on at that time.

Here's this moments machine..

The only thing I have ever designed for FS was A house I made while trying to learn GMAX Keyword TRYING TO LEARN. I finally made the house and went nearly bald trying to make the airplane. But I use to fly for a Virtual airline called LIVEWIRE and was a hub manager (KGSO was my hub) It took a lot of time as I had alot of stuf I had to do and it took away from my flying time and I was loosing intrest in flying. I have since left livewire and have regained my interest in flying and managed to find a VA that is not so demanding so now I have the best of booth I fly what I want and where I want and fly for the VA at the same time. What more could you ask for. So I understand what you are going through sometimes the best thing to do is to get away from it for a while. Of course every time you fly you now spot problems you would not have noticed before so it becomes hard not to notice the little things.
Just one of the reasons I respect designers so much as I know what it takes and what it does so try to look at through a different set of eyes and hopefully the joy of simple flight will come back 8)

That is correct I still like astronomy but have not use my telescope in some time, there is so much light pollution now that is hardly worth the effort you are not able to see now what you used to be able to see.

I, as a designer myself, for serval games can completely agree with what you guys are typing here.

The solution is rather simple, get some non-developers to look at the plane, they usualy love it, play/fool around with it, and give you feedback, and i can tell you that you will instantly get your love for FS back!

nah, ejjejeje, alrot no pienses asi pana, thats just temporary, when you feel that youre too absorbed on your proyects its time to take a break, your proyects, your SIm, and lour life will look better ( we are suppose to enjoy that, its a hobby!) of course, the developers start to "see" the FS like Neo in the matrix, when that happens, its time to take things on calm...

i started to had column problems and tend to fatigue, since i work ALL day on a computer, and goin home to see another computer fatigues my eyes a lot also, and i reduced my Gmax sessions a lot for that.

/cause next stage is to over compromise your time with 3D design and we start to think about re-build the whole FS!!!, another stage is when you have so much time on FS develpment and start to "loose" the reality sensation, then you call a friend an put yourself on a real plane, or just GO to the airport to see 'em real... in these days i sit on a real F-5 and came back running to my PC opened gmax... and hehehe. saludos hermano
