IT LOOKS LIKE A FRIGGIN ARCADE GAME IN THE FIRST VIDEO! Angry

At least its sim like in the second one

It seems like theyve divided the sim: one 'mode' is more arcadey, using external views, guided flights, and goals.  But it still seems like a good sim, especially in the glider video.  So i think we will be able to sim like we always do, but at the same time others can play the game

How are they meant to do the Red bull air race then?

Sorry, but if you think about it thats about the only way :S.

I don't think so. It's just the Extra, actually I think the same can be done on FS9. I see nothing arcadish here.
It's just about the flight model of the Extra. I really don't like the way this plane flies, already on FS9.

I really can't see why anybody would want to fly the aircrafts from a stationary tailcamera view?

Do we have to go through this crab again? First we had this FS9-with-addons-is-better-than-FSX talk, then the is-FSX-going-to-be-only-for-Vista-and-DX10 discussion, then the X360-controller talk, now this?

As far as I can remember back when FS9 first came out, people wanted to have better functionality with the camera views while others wanted missions that gave them a sense of purpose. And don't forget, there is always an easy setting and hard setting. For all we know, the video was probably taken in an easy setting.

Kat, face it, people are never happy. Roll Eyes

As far as I am concerned, these will be optional settings and seperate functions of the simulator. I'll be trying them out as they look like a bit of fun in what is an otherwise at times monotonous sim. And hey, if it ups the sales and means MS can continue making these sims in the future, I am all for it.

A thought here after watching the various videos............

IF........... and the is a big "if".............. by going more "game-y" with this version of the simulator, it results in a significant increase in sales.......... what do you think will happen to the focus of the development time that will be spent on the next version AFTER  fsX?

I have no idea what FSX really is yet.... but from the stuff they are "leaking" about the upcoming product ........... they obviously spent a lot of effort on stuff that one might classify as "entertainment" or "game" or "casual user interest features".

One HOPES that they also have put in an equal amount of effort into the stuff that is "simulation" or "reality" based for the more serious simulation enthusiast.

Time will tell.

best,

if it is going to be more entertainment based than simulation. im sure their will be addons for thouse of us who like it more realistic than ohhhhhhh that was so much fun.
(not meaning to start an arguemnt)
but thats just the way i see i, because afterall MS are just a corporation trying to make mega bucks. so if it sells they are not gonna rly care what 1 community thinks. and a small part of that community at that

like i said before i dnt want to start a huge flameing war over this, its just the way i see it.

In a world where competition is stiff [and always will be], all companies [big or small] will have to cater to the needs of its consumers if they want to maintain their products popularity among its regular users along with its new users. It's part of the law of supply and demand.
