Guys, stop the game bickering. The sim is clearly being made for 2 audiences: casual gamers wanting to just fly around with no real intention and serious simmers like us. MS knows that many of the simmers will by it anyways, so they are trying to pull in a bigger audience by calling it a game in many instances and focusing on PREVIEWING the game aspects. If youve been paying any attention youd see that many things they are working on are more simulation than game. New failures, new ways to play (ATC, Pilot, Copilot), better MP (i know thats more 'game', but if its better we can fly with more people in a vatsim type of situation), new details around the world and new ways of displaying certain things. Read the fact sheet:
Quote:incredible graphics and added realism
New weather, more realistic environment
Quote:With more than 50 new missions to choose from, aviators can build their skill levels and engage in even more stimulating gameplay than before. Players can choose to compete in the Red Bull air race or bring relief materiel to the Congo, keeping track of their progress on each mission.
Everyone keeps complaining about the missions. But to me it seems like its a whole new way of playing the sim. I dont know about you, but I think that delivering relief to the congo and being graded on it sounds fun. It sounds like a sim, like, um, FSpassengers maybe? Yes, some of these missions are gonna be game missions, but others are real life pilot activities that would give a reach realistic experience.
Quote:Flight Simulator X will provide pilots with the ability to fly the aircraft of their dreams, from the DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver floatplane and Grumman G-21A Goose to the AirCreation 582SL Ultralight and Maule M7-260C Orion with wheels and skis. Players will be amazed at the details, such as shaded rivets, reflective paint, and glint from glass and chrome, as they view the world from 100 to 1 million feet.
New planes. And these planes are very versatile, and the details on them are more of a sim feature. Just imagine taking the beaver and goose in alaska, or flying the maule to a glacier. Maybe even launching a space shuttle. ITs a sim guys, not a game.
Quote: Flight Simulator X offers players a connected world where they can choose whom they want to be, from an air-traffic controller, pilot, or co-pilot as they interact with other aviators from around the globe by chatting in real time via headset and keyboard.
This is the main reason why all the bickering is starting to tick me off. A gamer is not going to know how to use these features. This makes it a SIMULATION, to be able to actually speak with other players through the sim and be able to act as a pilot, copilot, or atc. This brings a whole new area into the sim. Imagine during online play being able to fly one plane together as pilot and copilot with other planes with pilots and copilots and air traffic controllers. That makes the sim so much more of a sim than it is now.
Quote: * More than 24,000 airports feature artificial intelligence-controlled jetways, fuel trucks, and moving baggage carts, allowing players to explore their hometown or venture to a favorite far-off city.
Great details. Now when you pull up to a gate it no longer is jus sit there, but you actually have airport servisces come to you and serve you.
Guys, its still early. Remember that they want to make money, so of course they are going to advertise the fun stuff and make it seem like a game.
I doubt that many people here are going to buy it just cause it seems like a game. You know what, thats your choice, go right ahead and stick with FS9 just cause you fear that FSX is a game. But Im telling you now, and I will stick by it: I am going to buy FSX when it comes out. I dont give a damn if its a game, im still going to buy it because it looks impressive and it looks like FUN, and after all, dont we all play because we enjoy flying and find FS to be FUN?
