Well Sam, congratulations with the server! Smiley
Would you mind if Clipper and I could use the server for "SimV Racing" etc? (If he agrees, that is Cheesy)

Hello, Lads...

Is the new Server limited to just one Port address, eg 23456?

If so this means that only one group of players can use the Server at one particular time...!

Note that WSP has three Port addresses (23456, 23457 and 23458 ) so there is always the choice of of selecting an "empty" Port, and other flyer's are not conflicting with each other!

Cheers all... Grin...!

Paul.... 8)...!

P.S. What are Port addresses 6073 and 23432 used for?
...and what is the reference to: UDP, and TCP, and what is their importance...?

6073 and 23432 are additional ports required for some DX7 games.
The reference to UDP and TCP is related to connection protocols for routers.
As for multiple connections you can run multiple FSHost servers on one piece of hardware as long as they each have a different port to connect through.

Does that mean that on Sam's new Server: 85.10.244.109, it is possible to select either 23456 (default), 23457 or 23458 in the FS 2004 Multiplayer Settings Option...?

Being limited to just one port address on a (SimV) Server is a bit restrictive.

Cheers....!

@cspyro.

Shure you can use it for the Race. But weīre currently more or less in a setup process. So I donīt know yet how we will handle things like different hoplists for different events
and so on... but we can for shure work it out !

@Fozzer

At the moment there will be just one server. And I think this  should be enough .Hey.. We have the whole world Smiley
and also the chat window should not be to overloaded.
(I invite you to join Teamspeak Smiley )
Look at the wspilots Servers.. usually you donīt see more than 5-10 people scattered over 3 server.
If this server really should be that overloaded (32players allowed at the moment) we might think of another one.
But this also depends on the traffic FSHost makes.
(We do not have this server for free)
The only case where a conflict could happen is during a hoplist race. But if such events get announced before.. it shouldnīt be a problem.

cheers

-sam-,

as you already know I tried your server and as I told you it looks good. as far as I can see, and despite I was alone...
just a question, when I was looged in, I opened FShostspy to see if it would detect the session but it didn't. do that mean the link you gave, cockpit.netfrag.org, is the only way to see who in on?
if not what do I have to do to make it visible through FShostspy?

thanks
vince

Hi there,

Just wanted to remark something for the fshost spy problems.
Right now the server is not public yet. That means it is not registering itself with the master server list of fshostspy yet.
It is going to be registered at a later point, right after we did the first stress test on sunday. Feel free to join that (sam posted something about it).

Re: Teamspeak vs Chat window.

I have great sympathy with all the Multiplayer Fliers who do not have the knowledge, or do not have/cannot afford the the headset-microphone equipment necessary to operate Teamspeak and therefore get left out in the cold...Cry...!
For those Fliers I quite enjoy using the Chat window...Grin...!
There is always going to be a problem with communication between the Teamspeak/Chat window users... Cry...!
I think this became apparent during Thursday night's test session...Wink...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.... 8)...!

I have all the equipment necessary to operate Teamspeak, but for the occasional pop-in with other users it's nice to be able to communicate with everyone using the simple, user-friendly, Chat Window... Grin...!
...over and out... Grin...!

Sam...Wink...
shure = sure.

...and the "apostrophe" character is on the "@" key...
example: shouldn`t = shouldn't.
...sorry mate....German keyboards?....LOL...Grin...!

ouch...lol.. I think I write "shure".. since I can think... embarrassing
Grin .. That happens when you are talking more than you are typing  Wink Wink

seriously... the chat window will always stay the primary
communication platform in a Flightsim Session. Usually
(from our experience the last year) just the minority uses Teamspeak.
I also sometimes have problems understanding english speaking people in Teamspeak.. in that case I
also use the chat window.
So I donīt really see
both (TS and the chat window) colliding in any way.
But that wonīt stop me from inviting you to our
teamspeak server now and in the future... one day...
Grin

cheers
