The default FS2K4 aircraft have registration #'s that you can change in the user interface. I would like to do this for 3rd party aircraft and downloaded the sdk.In the aircraft container sdk it lists all the parameters and what they do,but after editing the aircraft.cfg on a 3rd part repaint i did the registration # doesnt show.
I there somthing else that needs to be modified or added to the 3rd party aircraft to make this work?

That feature is part of the ac model, and not all add-ons have it.

The only other option I know of is to 'repaint' the appropriate .bmp(s).

The FS stock aircraft reg numbers are put into the model of the aircraft using a special poly that responds to input from the config file.  There aren't too many freeware aircraft out there that do this.  The only other option is just what Dave said: repaint the *.bmps, which is actually a little easier than you would think.  It just takes a little intuition and some patience.

There's a link in my sig for a repainting tute, or maybe someone can suggest a better one?

BMP reg numbers look way better than the automatic ones anyway.

And some fonts you just don't have on your machine (like the GOST one that is used on russian planes)

Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and An-24RV&&&&AI flightplans and repaints can be found here
