I would highly suggest finding and downloading a  high quality version of the MD-80 instead of fiddling around with the default AI-only model.

To get the default AI model to be flyable, you need to download a program called 'AirEd' and switch the aircraft type from AI only. Next, you need to download and install a panel, and download and install a sound set. There is also no virtual cockpit.

IMO, it's not worth it. It would be much easier to find a high quality MD-80 at one of the file libraries than it would be to fiddle and tweak default AI model, which isn't that great quality in the first place Wink

Section 105. Change the Aircraft Type from 2 to 0. You might also need a panel.

Not entirely true, when I had only just installed flight sim, I was having a noss around in the innards and found a programme called fsedit. I cant remember what exactly I did, but i made all of the AI planes available in the main FS window, and imported a panel from the 737. Basic I know and if you are looking for a proper md83 i wouldnt suggest it.

Here you go.  Download and follow instructions.

Write back after you have made them flyable and I'll tell you how to change the callsigns (you have to get repaints first).  My MD-80's are Lufthansa, Swissair and Northwest, and my Dash-8's are Continental, Alitalia and Lufthansa.  That sounds a lot better those lame Microsoft airlines.

I forgot all about FSEdit, but it did it also

Though, If I remember right, FSEdit was full of bugs Roll Eyes
